Any news on the wideband? For instance, can we request the new 2-1/16" gauge? Will the system include the o2 sensor? What other changes have taken place? Much appreciated
Geoff
All right let me get some updates out here. I'll start with your post.
Yes you can have the option to get the new AEM Uego setup with display. I can go over this individually when ordered
We have decided NOT to make it mandatory. I think we have made it quite clear on this forum how important it is to run the right A/F tool along with your high performance setup. We will leave this decision up to the customer.
The Parallel AEM unit will be made in two versions. One with the built in Uego contoller (actually IN the ECU) where you just plug the O2 connector into the back of the box. The second version will be the EMS that can accept ANY WB from any manufacturer. We have been able to get offsets and calibrations for many of the popular WB's out so that we can configure the box at any time.
Secondly, we feel comfortable in our tuning procedure. We will provide very comprehensive base mapping that will be adaptable to many vehicles and modifications. Even with the stock O2's we will be able to run closed loop efficiently and accurately. Open loop operation will be conservative and allow safety thru our Knock feedback system that is fully active thruout the throttle, rpm and boost range.
Now when I say base mapping I mean that it is not a base for the generic vehicle. It will tuned to the application. It will not be 100% perfect we know this. But it will be as optimal as can be when it leaves our facility for the individual. We have to leave room for error when the stock O2's are being incorporated. For those who choose to go with the WB option, then obviously they will have an easier time with adaptation for other mods, such as boost increase, cam upgrades, exhaust upgrade etc etc.
As you all know we are working on making sure the Protege units are ODBII specific. Meaning we want the system to continue to monitor and report the OBD's as intended. This requires further tuning and specific code to be written into the software. So as the R&D continues thru the summer and into the fall we will have all of the EECV specific code written for the proteges and all the ford vehicles.
That means there will be software upgrades available for everyone and we will take the responsability to get that information out to the enduser immediately.
The hardware will already will be upgraded for everyone who orders. So with a simple email they will be able to take advantage of many new features we are working on.
We talked about traction control, progressive nitrous control, boost control, variable valve timing, etc etc. There will be no extra charge to anyone when we address these options. We will send you all the software you will need to get it rolling.
One of the most exciting features we are incorporating right now is a mode that will aid in efficiency and fuel economy. Along with those advatages, it also will aid in emmisions testing. The vehicle will be able to run off many base and correction maps. Most importantly the Protege can benefit from complete boost compensation mapping. This will fuel the engine based on specific ENGINE load only. Those who are familiar with the new emmision tail pipe testing will understand that the rollers only load the engine slightly. Therefore this mapping will help in providing stoich A/F ratios when under light load and partial throttle for this testing. Along with optimal ignition timing the vehicle will still be able to pass ULEV standards.
Every time we finish a feature we will automatically upgrade the customers software.
Lastly in my next post I will post EVERY possible option this unit can handle. NOT what it can do at different times with different wiring setups...
Meaning that when we say we can do boost control, nitrous control, 10 high impedance injectors, 16 0-5 volt input and output modifications traction control, gear selectable boost and rev limiters.... we mean it can do it ALL AT ONCE. Not pick one or two and thats it. We have enough drivers to run almost anything we like.
Anyway there is alot more I want to add but I will wait till we post some results.
I apoligize for taking so long with the R&D for this particular vehicle, but we need to make sure it is correct the first time. This unit will set a standard for others to follow and we want it to be perfect. We are almost done and we will post everything we find whether good or bad. Fortunately we are SO busy with many projects that UNfortunately we cant finish up with this as we expected two weeks ago. But we are trying.
Sometimes you have to give yourself more time to complete a project, because many people know that when you try to meet a preproposed deadline you may have some simple mistakes that were overlooked. Anyone who has been to the shop recently in York can testify that we are a little overwhelmed with work and are trying to take car of everyone.
We are on schedule though to dyno tune and post results.
Thank you all for your patience and we will have results soon. Tommorow when I am at the shop we will post some pics of the unit, our harness and how we structure the units to fit in your your passenger floorboard
If anyone has any questions feel free to contact me or Andy or just post it here.
