Hey micah i know what happened with u and the Nicks. However the AEM unit is ready as we speak but is just waiting to be demonstrated..Andy is on vacation anyways... i thought it had been decided that there was to be no more of this. Couldnt u have included that in one reply as opposed to 4. talk about cluttering up this thread

The AEM plug and play system that is being worked on by perfworks and wagnermotorsports is a tunable system that allows the user to control hundreds of aspects of the vehicle. timing and fuel are the big ones but there are several others.. for example NOS control for starters. I am not at liberty to go totally in depth as it would be impossible considering the breadth of what the AEM covers. However it is basically ready... for the protege mind you but it is also being used on an EVO 8 @ 500hp. Once andy returns from his vacation they will get together to do dyno tuning etc on actual proteges. Everything will be ready within a week or two.

Can someone sum this whole thread for me ?? I got tired after reading a couple of pages.
I agree, it would be great for a moderator to scan through this thread and keep only the pertinent information. It's incredibly sad to see this thread get this way. There are other threads where bickering and imaturity should be posted, not here or in any other informative threads. This is BS.

Here is your summary of the thread - lots of bickering.

The unit will be ready soon, they expect great things, but cannot give a date.

Thank you, this is the first informative post in days. I cannot wait to see more of the AEM data, it's features, the improvement it can make.

And for those doubters i have personally seen the unit working on the evo8. It is amazing in its options but also its ease of use. There are multiple graphs(even 3d) for manipulating a variety of features. I am planning on being there when the unit is debuted.... maybe i can get some pics of the frontend etc... personally i thought it was flawless... AEM worked hard on the programming as u will see. Also it can be adapted to virtually any vehicle.. so one could put it in their next vehicle or in a vehicle other than a protege as well. There will also be full software updatability and tuning support. there is also a dyno built in.

You have seen it on the EVO 8?!?

What about the damn Protege?!? This is why people are frustrated akhilleus...The EVO version has been out for awhile now. We are looking at the Protege here, not the EVO 8...

Personally, I give a crap if it works on the EVO...I don't drive an EVO. Neither do most of the people on this board.

I'm patient, and haven't had a problem waiting to see this thing in action. But to see it work on an EVO is one thing. To see it work on the Protege is what this whole thread is about!

Never thought I would say this but here goes: "I agree with StuttersC"

Hell is scheduled to freeze over, Pigs will be flying, and monkeys will start crawling out of peoples butts. The eve of the apocolypse is upon us, or at least it will be "in a few weeks."

I see none of these "world-class" mods can come in here and clean this junk up like we've asked several times.

What do you guys do if not help people keep their threads clean??

(bow) Great post.
The protege is the key here, not the EVO!
akhilleus, Have you seen it running a Pro???

As a side note here have you ever looked at any other ECUs out there? I mean companies like Motec, TECIII, DFI GEN7, PRS8 and about ten other companies. They all have very good things that they can do. The AEM is not the first or even the only company that offers all of these options that you are talking about. One may do this and the other may do that. Not knocking what you may have seen, but a 500hp AEM/EVO is not a very big deal anymore. People have made more power then that without the AEM. As for 3D maps, the MPI Tuner has 3D maps for tuning the fuel, the spark and the extra injectors.

Please do not come back with a negative post. I am only asking a few questions as to why you feel the AEM is the best unit on the market.

Thanks again

Later...Nick

I think the AEM is so appealing to everyone because they are promising plug and play. You don't have to splice the unit in. Plus you can program it to control just about everything, if not everything all the other companies ems's can. I thought about the others, but ultimately I want the simplest system, with the flexability to control anything I throw at it. Also, any shop familiar with the software will be able to custom tune the unit for individual needs if necessary.

Yes, not starting any more crap. . .but akhilleus, have you seen a Protege using it? Please don't post anything more without answering that question first.

I agree. That is why this unit sounds so appealing. Plug and play sounds very attractive. And, yes there a number of units out there that can do what the AEM does. But none of those are plug and play.

I can't wait to see it on a Protege. I guess the open house at Wagner Motorsports will be the date of release?

That has been my impression at any rate.

I will see it running on a protege in about a week, @ wagners. I thought i had explained that. I only mention seeing it on the EVO so as to validate that i have seen the unit in action. And yes there are other units out there like motec but they are much more expensive than this unit. Yes pnp is a huge advantage. I think that the ease of use is also an important factor which the AEM is definately strong in. I appreciate that we were able to discuss this more civily.

Yes, thank you for being civil right back.

Thanks again
