Motor Mount Inserts?

What ever happened to these? Anyone ever make them/have them for sale? The AWR one's are too stiff for me, but the OEM ones are too soft (yes, I've tried the AWR A/T ones). I figured an insert would be the sweet spot for me...

I think Kooldino did some DIY motor mount upgrades. I think you just need to suck it up & deal with the AWRs...they are only bad during break-in (1st couple weeks) & start-up.

How does an insert work? It is something you add to the stock mount to fill the gaps there? Would this make install easy for the rear mount? I have the AWR front, but haven't done anything to the rear since I hear it is such a PITA to get to.

I had my AWR on for over a month... seemed to get worse (but it could have been me getting more annoyed).

I like the way mine perform (they're filled in with 3M window weld, available at some advanced auto stores). I have 3 of them filled. There's a little vibration below 700 rpm, but that doesn't bother me.

The engine doesn't want to hop out of the car nearly as much anymore, but it's still pretty bad at low rpm in 1st and 2nd gear.

Total cost: $15.00, less than 10 hours of work removing, filling, and reinstalling the mounts.

^^

Exactly what the guy above said. 3M Window Weld. I bought mine at a UAP/ NAPA autoparts store.

Note: Recommend you remove mount (or purchase a new one as I did) and fill in the gaps. Much easier to do it this way, than to try and fill it in while on the car.

any word on side mounts, not just front and rear? I think it should benefit our cars when it comes down to wheel hop.. I know kooldino was doing inserts, what ever happened?

FYI, from RR-Racing:

I will have special polyurethane inserts made for the protg 5
available within 1-2 weeks, please check back.

Thanks,

Rafi

Does the 2.0L motor mount insert you stock work on a Protege5 2.0L (FS-DE)?</pre>

just a heads up I bought the rr inserts for my MSP and the lips were way too fat to get teh mount back in the sleeve. I had to shave the outer walls about 1/4 inch with a pocket knife to get the motor mount to fit back on the car. about 45 minutes wasted... other than that it's been working out great. not too harsh at idle and not too soft.

Any more info on these? I'm interested in the rears as I have an AWR that I'd like to install.

Looking at the RRacing ones, it'd seem I'd have to yank the rear mount anyway just to get a proper install.

Bummer... for P5's anyway

"Well, the inserts are almost complete, but it turns out they will only fit
the MSP protege. So if you bought new OEM MSP mounts, then the inserts
I have will work. Depending on how the MSP inserts sell, I may then make
a batch for the P5. I will make a decision by the end of Feb.

I think NSNmotorsports is making motor mount inserts for the front, rear, and sides.

Yeah, CustomMSP and I have my revised rear motor mounts running in our cars for quite some time now. Cuts down on the hop a lot, and isn't much harsher than stock, vibration wise.

I haven't released them yet since I don't feel like they've been tested enough just yet, but if you're interested in testing them out, let me know.
