Miracle for fuel economy?

this may seem like a stupid question, but is gas in GA the same a gas in CA or anywhere else in the states? There are different refineries. Are they all refining the gas to the same level? Could that be what's causing some to get better results than others?

Gas is quite different from one place to another, depending on local regulations, refineries and such. Indeed this has been mentioned in the "literature" on acetone.

So here are my results. I went 392 miles on 13.1 gallons of gas. So 29.9MPG So i saw a little bit of a gain, but that could be due to more highway driving during our last meet. Although, I did hit the gas and get into boost more than usual. So it could've helped a little bit.

not sure if this is a coincidence or not but.... my CEL went on today. Car's got about 30k miles on it with only an injen CAI for a mod. seems to be running ok... getting the same gas mileage as it always has... guess I'll have to bring it in next week. kind've blows cuz I wanted to take it for a nice long drive this weeekend... but not if the CEL is on.

I bet some carbon deposits got stuck on your O2 sensor... I think acetone removes them, but they could also go as "chunks" (or plates)

it should be covered. and no it's not bad if indeed it's just the O2 sensor.

Indeed. No biggie. It happened to me a couple of months ago. They changed the sensor (and repaired the manifold) under warranty. You can drive the car no prob and after 20 cycles (starts) the CEL will turn off (and turn on 20 more cycles later). At least that's what my Mazda dealer told me

Just finished the second tank with 45 mls of acetone. Again, I have somewhat improved kilometreage with 405 km to this tank vs 340 km per tank prior to the addition of acetone. I have driven about the same with this tank as I did with the previuos tank. I did not run this tank to E as I did the last. I suspect that I had another 30 km in the tank, but I do not have any way to prove this.

All in all, I think that my kilometreage remains about the same...a marked improvement over the pre-acetone state.

i just got 335 on 11 gallons, 30 mpg is not bad for all city, but the car has seems peppier.
i'll try and go easier on it, and next i'll run just gas.

my father got 41 mpg on his last fillup, but he has a 1.8 civic and drives very conservatively

My results:
No Acetone: 21MPG
2oz Acetone: 21MPG
4oz Acetone: 21MPG

My friend's car:
1998 Malibu 155K miles. V-6 had dealer do fuel injector disassembly and cleaning. use fuel injector cleaner roughly every 8-10K miles.

before: avg 30.89 over 9 fill ups.
after: 30.24 (one tankfull)

So it sucks to be us, I guess.

We used Sunoco gas on our tests. He used regular, and I used 93.

However, we both use injector cleaner relatively frequently. Perhaps we see no gains because the gains are realized with acetone since they clean the injectors. If our injectors aren't as gunked up as your average guy to begin with, we have less room for improvement.

Yeah, I was a little upset...but I think it was a combination of things working against me.

-Indiana flat land and strong wind
-bad gas from Admiral
