Miracle for fuel economy?

Also, I'll admit I'm no expert on racing rules and regulations, but I think most fuel additives are usually against the rules.

Race treams don't care about fuel economy... I'm almost tempted to give it a try as gaz prices are so high now.... Anyways, it's worth investigating

Higher fuel economy = Less pit stops.

yep, or same number of pitstops with less fuel in the car between stops making the car lighter...but im pretty sure there are rules against fuel additives

what kind of race team gives a s*** about fuel economy?
A lot of race teams care about fuel economy. Teams in NASCAR, Indy Car, Formula 1 racing to name a few. Making one less pit stop is the difference between winning and losing.

See my comment above.

Isn't partial fuel pit-stops a tactic to get out of the pit faster with the least amount of fuel to finish a race? Not really done during a long race in the beginning pit stops to save on weight.

you can switch the order of posts in your options if you want.
I like to read stuff chronologically.
Anyway, I would wait until more research is done and national fuel additive businesses start selling it with a guarantee it's not going to ruin your engine or parts before I use acetone.

selling it? its sold everywhere already, just not in an overpriced "automotive use" package

and I can understand the theory of how it works, allowing fuel to atomize faster and easier, but I not sure I can truely believe such a small quantity allows it to work, or that it even works at all.

testing needs to be done on a mazda forums level for me to believe it.

my friend that drives a talon noticed a 10-15% increase in fuel econemy. he uses laquer thinner from canadian tire, which also contains Toluene.

subscrizzle for the truth. I wouldn't add this stuff to my car unless I had well known research companies with scientists to testify this safe and effective. Otherwise, you guys will have to do (cheers2)

As far as Toluene goes, there's plenty of research about it. For example, Turbo F1 cars of the 80's runned on 80% Toluene

we should have 5 members take this challange.

record for two weeks, your mileage per tank and driving style.
after that two weeks, add the recomended Acetone, then record mileage per tank while keeping the same style of driving the weeks beforehand.

one month experiment. the board could benifet from this research greatly. pro or con.

Well, I'm doing it right now. I've been monitoring my mileage for awhile taking into account different driving styles, highway and city, so I have a good base. Now we'll see if there is any improvement in milage. So far I can't tell yet as I've started only yesterday. But what I can say for now is that the engine runs somewhat smoother with strong acceleration and backfires are down.
