Michigan Mazda club...any interest?

OK guys, heres the deal-

I've mentioned this to a few people and just thought I'd post to see how many people are interested. Since we seem to have a steady crew for the monthly drives and we also plan events almost monthly, I was wondering how hard it would be to get the ball rolling on setting up a club, similar to NEPOC, MTMA, or Intense. I think we've got the right kind of people, who've got an interest and the initative to plan and step up for things, to make this work.

To get the ball rolling, just start figuring out requirements and all the little things and go from there. I would certainly say that there are a few people other than myself that I would nominate to take charge, but I will do what I can to get the plan in motion. We should figure out what we're going to call ourselves, logos maybe, and banners/tshirts/etc. If anyone has any other ideas, just start replying here and we'll get something started.

some of the guys in the Mazda3.com forum are formong a Detroit based Mazda cc perhapse you guys would consider joining us as a club. The thread is in the Michigan section of the US forum. BTW we (Detroit Mazda3 cc) will be autoxing on Aug 21st at the Silverdome, come out and join in on the fun. more info at MY auto events . com.
This outting will also be the kick off for the M3 cc. ( Goldwing 2000, you should come out and show us how to drive fast, besides we want you to join the CC. at this stage we have 5 M3's in the club).

We should just keep the meetings going get some t-shirts stickers and try to put togather a mzda vid with all the peeps interested prolly not this year but maybe next year try to plan auto-x and other driving events talk to venders for discounts on tires parts and such get our name out there(once its established) talk to local performance shop for dyno days get togather for install meets etc.. jsut a few suggestions

RR313, thanks for the compliments but I don't think I'm really that great of a driver to be able to teach anybody anything. I'd be happy to attend some events, though.

I was just trying to make something official, and to get some recognition. I think MI has plenty of Mazda enthusiasts to be recognized.

Yeah, I'm kinda with Kane. Not too sure how this would be much different than we've already been doing. But some more events and meets would be cool. We should have some more informal meets other than just the drives. Have some kinda BBQ's or party's were we can all hang out and get to know eachother better. The drives are a lot of fun, but there's never really much time for people to just hang out.

I'm all for having more get-togethers but I don't think I'll be able to be a major participant in the operational aspects. Between my gun clubs, goldwing clubs, mechanic side jobs and girlfriend I don't have a lot of free time.

Just do it and see who shows up. If you build it, they will come. (smoke)

One word of advice: be sure to give plenty of advance notice when planning an event... but not TOO much. A week is too short, 6 months is too long. A month seems to be about the perfect warning time.

Well both sides considered and thanks to all for the input I think we should still get a name for this and I thnk shirts would be cool my wife just had a baby so making all the soon to be planed events will be tough but I would still try to help with the planning and trying to find things to do and places to go Im 90% sure about the k2k and the cedar point meet wiht the OH peeps so lets just keep it up
