I'm new here and this is my first thread posted here so i don't know if anyone wrote about it already. I'm looking for a budget turbo kit for my P5, wondering if the MSP turbo will bolt on or what i need to get it to bolt on ect.... Then can anyone tell me where to find a used MSP turbo(maybe someone upgraded?!?!?). Thank you for all your help

PM Moeed, he may be willing to part with his kit. It will bolt right on and we can help you with anything. There are a few weird things you need to make sure you take care of and get an MPI tuner or something of that sort.

Moeed got it thanks!!!! any details on the "weird things" i have to do? I just would like to know what I'm getting into^_^ Thanks again!

i know that you want a budget kit but make sure that the get the right kit. i dont know what engine you have but the 2.0ltr and the 1.8ltr which is the FS engine share the same block just different bore and stroke but the 1.6ltr which is the zm engine like i have is a different block so the kits from the FS motors wont fit the ZM motor.

i know hi boost does a kit for both motors which is around the $4.5k us which includes every thing you need piping, turbo, larger injector, intercooler, and ecu which is just bolt on it looks to be a good kit you can read about it in the forced induction forum.

but if you go for the msp turbo make sure you get everything including the ecu as the factory one will not do the job at all and to buy an after market one will cost about $1000 us and you will them need to get it dino tuned to run properly and thats charged bby the hour could be costly. where the hi boost kit has a haultech and it comes tuned already.

all im saying is consider all options and plan it properly or going the budget way might not be so budget.

hope this helps

the MSP turbo will NOT just bolt on you will need the MSP ECU, wiring harnes and internals i was looking at doing that too but it would cost more then buying a kit that is desinged for the P5

the protege wiring harness will work just fine with the msp ECU. the turbo kit will bolt up just fine and the engine internals between the two cars are exactly the same. the swap has been done many times on thus forum alone and if buying used parts will cost less than a new kit.

If you need some pieces I can get them direct from Mazda at over 30% off retail, let me know!

I usually get thumbs up on the Pikachu, especially from parents.

Just curious, I know a MSP conversion won't give you the hp gains that some of the other kits yield but does it cost the same and will Mazda honor your warranty? If this has already been discussed point us to the correct thread.

if you buy the parts used and install them yourself, mazda will not warranty them

its for a p5 he said so wouldnt he have a 2.0? (hump)

Another option is the Wagner Motorsports kit w/o FMIC for $2650.00

Go ahead, everyone, flame away! (enguard)
