Mazda6 Turbo and Intercooling

I have a 2004 Mazda6 2.3L I4 Auto with 62k on it. It is all stock at the moment.

I new to the world of modding an engine and I am looking to turbocharge my engine as well as add the intercooler since I hear that is a must with a turboed engine. I would have the work done at a local shop. I live in the East Bay, California, anyone know where I can get this done if I got the parts?

Another question I have is, is it possible to twin turbocharge my engine?

My next question is how much would this cost(esta) for it to be twin turboed? If twin is not possible, then just the cost of getting a single done.

My final questions are spec questions. What would the output look like for each of those set ups in terms of torque and horsepower(or whp)? What would my 0-60 and 1/4 mile times look like?

Lastly, how would all this effect my mpg? (lol2)

Any and all information would be helpful. As you can tell I am new in this world. Thank you.

Don't know a shop that you can get it done at, but honestly twin turboing a 4 banger is not worth it. I don't know how strong the 6 autos are. I don't know if you need to beef up the tranny at all. As for power, it all depends on what turbo setup you go, it is a very broad answer to give. You could just go with a kit. Hiboost has a bolt in kit for the mazda6 and looks like they are getting 250 horse out of it. They say it works with the auto also.

As for gas mileage, that all depends on how much lead you have in your foot. If you can stay out of boost adding a turbo really won't hurt your MPG, the main thing it will hurt is your pocket book since you will have to run 91 octane. But honestly it isn't that expensive. In my area 91 is .20 more then 87 octane, so filling up my tank only cost me 2.00-3.00 dollars more a fill up.
