Hello everyone, im a newbie so here goes.

I have a 2004 Mazda6 TS, 2.0 and have a problem with the engine. The car starts fine but,
1) When accelerator is pressed, the engine struggles very hard to rev up but if i keep my foot down all the way then eventually it revs over 2-3000revs. Cant drive at all.
2) When it eventually revs up, i can hear a small bang in the air intake box, bit like a backfire, only sometimes.
3) I get 3 error codes, P0108, P2009 and P0108 pd.

I've changed the spark plugs, leads and the Maf sensor.
I also disconnected the cat to see if there might be a blockage but still the same.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

I was first going to say a clogged cat, but maybe it's the Torque Converter. Do you know what the 3 errors code are?

Hi, the 3 codes are,
1) P0108 - MAP/BARO Circuit High Input
2) P2009 - Intake Manif Runner Ctrl Circ Low Bank1
3) P0108 pd - think same as #1 but pending.

The cat and manifold become glowing red hot, sign of a blockage maybe.

I read on other forums and it could be the EGR valve thats faulty and can be cleaned so will try cleaning and testing electrical connections.

Any other ideas,

Thanks.

Just another update, took it to a local garage and he found the MAP sensor wasn't connected and the plastic housing around the pins was broken, he reconnected the plug and taped it up. He then erased the codes and the engine ran better than before, doesn't hesitate as much now but he reckons there is a blockage somewhere in the exhaust, most likely the cat so will be looking for a new cat and MAP sensor.

Is there any way i can test the Map sensor?

Cheers.
