Mazda3S Quirks?

I've had my 3S for 8 days now and am loving it so far, but I do have a couple questions for other 3S owners.

1) I've noticed with the radio volume at any decent level(not really blaring loud, maybe 12+ vol) the bass from the speaker makes my driver side mirror vibrate. The passenger side does not vibrate - does anyone else notice this?

2) is seems when at idle and in drive/neutral there is a slight rumble/vibration from the engine, almost like its timing might be a little off, but it seems to perform nicely - anyone else notice this?

Should I take it to the dealer and let them know about this? I have a checkup scheduled for the end of the month. Thanks.

I'm not sure I've noticed those things but in my opinion you might as well ask your dealer about it. Even if there's something to what you're saying there's a good chance their ears won't hear it, but hey, it's under warranty so it doesn't hurt to give it a shot. Only thing it will cost you is time.

Well I can say i had the same issue with the driver side mirror vibrating. At first I thought it was the baseline in certian songs however I turned down the music off and thats when I noticed the mirrior would virate at speeds 65 and above. I took it to the dealer and they said they did some test. they told me it could e the air differential in my tires they said it could be the weight distribution from all the stuff I have in my hatch. So after alot of crap and taking it in to the dealer Something told me the cause could be from under the hood. I just randomly blurted out what about the engine mounts? are they on tight enough. So I made them check the mounts and tighten them. After that the mirrior stopped shaking. They said the mount had nothing to do with it but some how it stopped shaking after that. If it dosent go away you might want to have them take a look at your mounts. Good luck buddy!!! (rockon)

It's pretty much normal. Because of the relatively large displacement per cylinder, there is more reciprocating mass than with most 4-cyl engines. The counter-balancer does what it can but there is always going to be some vibration.

Yeah - I've dealt with it by rationalizing to myself that it happened even in my 1.8L 4-cyl acura, so I can't expect buttery smoothness (more like my old 3.0VQ. Which was great and all. But ~20mpg with 91-92 octane fuel wasn't so great).

I have some rattling - driver's side mirror included. It will probably annoy me more in the winter when I'm not windows-down all the time. Be interesting to see if I can get the stealer to look at the engine mounts, and if that would actually address it. I always figured it was a door panel thing.

edit: I might as well post my own quirks. A rattle or two - one is the glovebox rattle, which I may try to heed Goldwing's advice on sometime soon.

One is I've had a couple of instances of obvious hesitation in fuel delivery. I don't know that this is fuel pump, an electronic throttle control thing, an ECU A/F mapping thing, a "it was really humid and warm that day" thing (though I seem to recall logging in my brain at least one instance on a 70-degreeish day) or what, but it's not yet rampant enough for me to be really concerned.

I have a frequent clunking in the suspension that I notice when I'm rolling at a slow speed at times - especially say, a drive-thru lane where sounds are magnified. This would be a tough one to troubleshoot and the suspension itself seems to perform fine to me, so I mentioned it in service ("We inspected your car, sir, and everything appeared in tip-top shape. Would you like us to do a road test?" "No thanks, not yet") and moved on with my life.

1. check engine lights goes on and off - took it to the dealer and they said i have to bring it in whenever it happens

2. my A/C blower stopped working one day and the next day it started working again - took it to the dealer and they said i have to bring it in whenever it happens

Well nice to hear others have the mirror and small vibration "problem" I have my 30 day "checkup" next week, i'll mention it.

Styles, I'd tell them to look at it now! Check engine light and A/c blower stops - FIX THEM! :) Seriously, did you happen to notice if the car was running hot - if the car starts to overheat the A/C will shut off - It will also shut off if its low on freon.
Don't have A/C smell problem.

Back brake dust is common I believe.

Every problem you stated is all considered to be normal and is not a big issue, if your door ratles with the bass have Mazda adjust the door, it's free.

i did have the dealer check it out and they said i have to bring in the car when the problem happens - its just my luck that when i'm going to bring in the car, it decides to behave good and work again, making it look like there's no problem with it

other than the ones i mentioned, the car runs good

ohhhh, my car doesnt over heat, never had a problem with that
