Mazda3i Stalling Problem?!

Is there anyone else out there with a 3 that has a stalling problem like I have? My 3 likes to stall while in operation. Basically, when the A/C is on and you step on the gas after coming to a stop, it'll go for about 25 feet and then just die. Then I have problems restarting the vehicle. I have had the vehicle in the shop 4 times for this problem and Mazda can't seem to fix it and now they are saying it is my problem and that if it happens again bring it back to the dealership (yet again) to see if they can fix it. I always thought Mazda was a pretty good manufacturer. So is it just me or is there anyone else dealing with this same problem?

no one that i know of, is it a standard or automatic? only when the ac is on? i would think the next time it happens call mazda on your cell and have them come tow the thing to the garage so they can see how it acts right after it happens, the bad thing about intermittin problems is unless you have a good service guy they are goin to keep sayin its fine until they are in the car when it happens....

It's an automatic. I have had them tow it to the dealership after it happened and they still can't figure it out. I was told it sounds like a "Lemon". But I'd really hate to get rid of the car, I love driving it! and it only have a little over 14,000 miles on it.

wow, i dunno, sounds electrical if it only happens when the ac is on, some sort of short from the water condensation gettin somewhere it shouldn't... well if it is a lemon you could just get a new one...??? teh 06's are even more fun, more power, more optoins more fun!!!

I have been having the same problem. i never tried it with the air conditioner on where do you live kuz mine did it like 10 times during the 6 months that i lived in houston. Maybe the 3 doesnt like certain atmospheres. Mazda basicly said screw you to me and definitely now since ive added some things. Luckily mine hasnt dont it too much since i got back from houston. (FINGERS CROSSED)

We live in PA. We have retained a Lemon Law Lawyer to help us with our problem. I don't want to drive the car with this problem considering we have 2 small children. It's a scary thing!!!!!

yeah i would agree... i wouldn't want to drive it either b/c of the safety issue that it brings up. best of luck getting this straightened out.

Wierd, I havent heard of it. My car also doesn't have the A/C option. I really dont care if it has A/C or not.

Almost the same as my P5

I've been having a similar problem with my p5 ever since i bought it 2.5 years ago. It's been stalling every 3 months or so when I a red light turns green and I press on the gas pedal. It stalls, with no warning. I've had it check every time I go to my dealer (even tried a new dealer) and they changed one valve saying it was taking water. After that, it stopped for 6 month, but now has started again and is now at 2 months interval. As far as I kn ow, I will be stuck with this until I sell my car...

It has happened to me on humid days and with the A/C turned on and off. But I can restart it immediately with no problem, so I still continue using it.

If you ever managed to find out what you're problem was, I'd greatly appreciate it if you could post it here.

I'll let you know if they ever fix it. I just got the car back again recently (this was the 5th time it went in) and they said they found Carbon build-up in engine. So they didn't charge me to clean it out, the car ran great for about 3 or 4 days and now it's up to it's stalling again. So it looks like it'll be going back for a 6th Time ! I am also in the mitts of persueing the "Lemon Law" in relations to this problem. So far no word from Mazda.

Did the technician duplicate your stalling issue?

They haven't been able to duplicate the stalling yet. They have been able to get it to almost stall. So maybe they are getting closer. It just really bits that I have had to take my 3 in so many times and this problem still persits!

We have someone complaining about this issue also, only been in once, but we drove for a whole week and put almost 400miles on it and can not get it to stall for us.
Without duplicating the problem it is next to impossible knowing what is wrong and how to fix it. If you can get it to stall I suggest taking the tech. for a ride.

We have done that. They were still unable to figure out what is wrong. All they keep saying is if it continues to happen bring it back in. Which is such a hassle.

I know what you are feeling. Believe me, the technician would like nothing other than to fix your car for you. It's a killjoy to have a problem that is inconsistant and cannot duplicate it.
Something that may help in the future, write down specifics of what was going on when it stalled.
For example:
how long you have been driving,
the temperature outside,
the engine temperature,
last time you got gas,
what accessories you had on at the time,
how long you had the accessories on,
was it raining , snowing, nice out, etc.,
how fast you were driving, were you just on the highway, in stop and go traffic, etc.

You will not only be helping the technician (me also) working on the car, but you will be helping yourself by getting the car fixed that much sooner.

This goes for anybody with this problem!!

Thanks alot!

I find it funny that you made that list for the simple fact, that I have alreasy done that for the dealership that I got the vehicle from and they also had me fill out a questionaire as well. I also give them a detailed list of directions with distances. And they still haven't been able to figure it out. I love my 3, but with having 2 small children and 1 on the way, having this type of problem isn't a good thing!

Yet again, my 3 is in the shop for stalling! This makes it 6 times! Are we having fun, yet? I honestly can't wait to get rid of this "Lemon"!!!!!!! It has seriously left a sour taste for my husband and I and I can tell you we will NEVER be buying another Mazda product AGAIN!!!!!

My 3 is still at the dealership and it doesn't look like I'll be getting it back anytime soon -- if ever! Corporate Mazda is getting involved YET AGAIN! This is the 6th time I've had my 3 in for this Stalling problem! I wish they could figure it out, but it really looks like that isn't going to happen. From what it sounds like Mazda is going to try and get my husband and myself out of this car. I'll be sure to keep this updated with any new information as I get it! I trully hope no else has this problem -- EVER!!!

My lastest update on this stalling problem, would be that I finally got my 3 back. It was at the dealership from Dec. 5, 05 to Dec. 28, 05. This time they changed out the Purge Valve(again) and the Fuel Pump. But as they put it they can't say that it won't stall again. So we'll have to see when and if it happens again! As for the Lemon Law stuff, everything is still in the works and we are waiting to hear from Mazda's lawyer. I will be sure to post any new information as I receive it!!!
