Mazda3 LOAD

I am just wondering what the load is that our mazda 3 can handle. I own a 2.3 mazda3 and drive about 2.5 hours twice a week to get all the flyers for the clubs in Pittsburgh. The boxes are pretty heavy and the number of boxes can get pretty high sometimes. I am just trying to get an idea so that I don't overload my car.

I do know that if you have over a certain amount of weight in our car that the passanger airbag light will come on. I don't know why but it does everytime.
Thanks for any info that can be provided.

Have you checked your owner's manual?

*edit* Yeah, check page 10-6.

*edit2* And if you don't have the vehicle specs, you can get them here:

To get your passenger/cargo capacity, subtract curb weight from GVWR.

Oh hell... I'm feeling generous.

Curb weight (lbs./kg)
4 door
i MT 2,696 (PZEV = 2,718)
i AT 2,738 (PZEV = 2,760)
s MT 2,762
s AT 2,807

5-door
s MT 2,826
s AT 2,857

It comes out to right around 1,000 lbs.

Yer welcome!

You know you can download a pdf owner's manual from mazda, right?

well I found the manual, but yeah I had some kind of an idea as to where I could get one. I have been really busy and just needed some info put in my hands. Again, thanks.

Load

You should have a sticker on the lower left corner of the driver's side door. I noticed this today and said something like 850lbs..mazda3s

well I think that its more like what goldwing said. 1000-1200

Its wierd though, it seems that if you put to much weight in the car that the passengar airbag light is activated. It does it everytime. That is pretty mush the guide that I have been using. It is around 1200 when the light comes on. I mean, hopefully it is allright at those weights. At least until I get another vehicle.

1200 is too much. You shouldn't go over 1000-1050, including driver and passenger, and evenly distributed throughout the car. GVWR is rated front/back as well as total. 1200 lbs in the rear hatch area will destroy your rear suspension.

well its not quite 1200. an its not at all in the back hatch area. Actually none of it is because of my speakers in the hatch. I put all the boxes in the back seats and in the passenger area. It def. is alot of weight and hopefully it will not do any damage . I am just trying to find another car to load up but havn't had too much luck. Ideally I am gonna buy a mini van. Something that will get great gas mileage that can also hold the weight. I am also trying to keep those miles down. Thanks for the info
