Mazda2 Wheel consideration thread

If you just want it to look "fat", get the 205/50-15.

If you want optimal performance, get the 195/50-15. This one gives better gearing and is lighter, both of which contribute to better acceleration. And you gain nothing in grip with the 205 on a 7 (typically needs an 8 before it gets better than a 195).

Availability is the desired brand and model may also play a factor. Both are good options.

As for the Kosei's, I have those exact rims (see pics upthread) and they fit fine. The color will not match the white on your car, though. The wheel is a bit more cream-colored than the car's paint. And since the car paint is pearlized, it will change with the light, while the wheels won't. Still looks good, though. I'm a big fan of white over white.

You have white kosei's? i think the ones im looking at are silver.. also, i don't race as hardcore as you guys.. local scca but with three kids and shiftwork i cant get in a full season.. so i think would prefer the chunkier looking tire. what do you recommend. i live in el paso, tx which is dry, hot, sees snow 2 days a year, and rains heavy one week a year, drizzles about randomly thruoghout the year. i was looking at the bfg rivals. what do you recommend? i would like the tire to last too. better off getting a daily driver tire and a auto-x tire?

Next summer I'm getting the 6UL in 15x8" +36 to fit the Falkens.

mykflo, check in this forum I think the bfg rivals are crap in the wet. I did drive into crazy rain lately with the Azenis and no problems.

You will need to roll the fenders.

The rivals get awesome reviews everywhere.. downside being wet weather.. even slightly wet weather.. I conclude they are awesome for the track but not for daily driving to include small road trips. The bridgestone re-11a seem like the next best for my needs or the dunlop z2.

Wheels and white letter tires, makes it look like a racecar!

That looks great.."almost" makes me want to go out and get bigger wheels..

Nice did u paint the letters yourself? What did u use?

I just used Tire paint pen that I got from my local Auto shop. The tires have POTENZA embossed so I just filled it in and scraped the over painted edges with a razor blade.

Is that a hood protector/bug-rock guard installed?

Yeah, bonnet/hood and headlight protectors. Had them installed before I even saw the car in person.

Thanks to everyone who likes the look of my car =)

The problem with not having any money is that you keep bouncing around on what you want to get until you can finally afford to get it. At first I was thinking the blue Konig Illusions. Then I was thinking of going big with 17" Konig Deceptions. Now I'm thinking of going back to 15", but going wider with a Konig Lightspeed (7.5" wide):

Of those, the RE11A is better for your purposes, IMO.

That said, do consider the new Yokohama AD08R. That tire does everything well. See the recent Tire Rack testing of all the major extreme performance players.
