Mazda2 Wheel consideration thread

Cool series. Makes notice a few things.

1. Visually, I like 16s. Too bad I JUST got my Kosei K1s.
2. The U.S. spec rear bumper is horrid compared to the Japanese/U.K. variant. It would be cool if the bumper followed the contour of the rear wheel a little more.

You're either fantastic at photoshop or you really have all those wheels. You're Andy Hollis...yah, you have all those wheels. Nice house by the way.

I took all the pics to try and decide what to keep for daily use and I'm going to unload the rest. The Kosei's are already sold. The SSR's (I have ten) are all mounted with 205/45-16 Conti DW's, a size which has been discontinued (on a wheel that is also no longer made). It's the absolute best wheel/tire combo for a small car for wet weather, and still quite good in the dry (we ran them at One Lap of America to a top ten overall finish on our CRX). But the market for them is crazy expensive since it's all NLA stuff. For now, I'm just going to enjoy them.

So if I go with 6ul's which will give off deeper dish and let ne run fatter tires? I.ll be using them as daily drivers mostly...not concerned with weight as I'm happy with either the 15x7 or 15x7.5.. should I go 15x7 and 205 tires. Trying to fill wheel well. I'm on h&r and cs shocks.

Depends on the drop / tire size ^^. But that is a safe bet

Also Andy, keep those SSR Type C (RS ?). Pretty rare wheel, looks great at the height you're at, and I'm sure is still pretty light for a 16x7.5. Win, win, win! :D

15x7 has a 36 offset and 15x7.5 has a 42 offset. I want a clean meaty setup/ flush.. no tire stretching or anything like that.

They'll stick out the same, but the 7.5" rim can use a wider tire better than a 7" ( specifically speaking if you want to run a 225/45.. 205/50 would be nice and meaty too ).

Lets see ...

Wow thank u! So the 7.5 and 7 6ul have the same offset? Which look better in person the nixkel or bronze? My car is white.

Unless they made new specs on the 6UL's, 15x7 had a 36 offset, and 15x7.5 had 42.

I'm a fan of the silver (not nickel) on a white car.

For me, bronze is ricer. Nickel too flashy, and black too dull. Silver is "just right" combo.

This is a 9" 6UL, but you get the idea.

Nice mr. Hollis! I'm really now leaning to the kosei k1 due to its excellent value.. price.. weight.. looks. Tirerack shows 15x7 - 38mm offset - 5.47 backspacing. Its recommending a 195 tire but I'd like a beefy looking tire. 205? This will fit the 2 right? I only adk becsuse its found under the 2000 Miata.

To me black looks aggressove but doesn't show the wheel design well.. silver looks clean and mature.. chrome flashy and bronze just looks good but kind of looks dirty. I think they all go with white.

I got 205 on my oem wheels and they look ok to me. On a 15x7" they will look perfect ;)

Falken Azenis RT-615K 205/50R15 on stock touring wheel ;) Car is dirty by the way but here's what it looks like

If you just want it to look "fat", get the 205/50-15.

If you want optimal performance, get the 195/50-15. This one gives better gearing and is lighter, both of which contribute to better acceleration. And you gain nothing in grip with the 205 on a 7 (typically needs an 8 before it gets better than a 195).

Availability is the desired brand and model may also play a factor. Both are good options.

As for the Kosei's, I have those exact rims (see pics upthread) and they fit fine. The color will not match the white on your car, though. The wheel is a bit more cream-colored than the car's paint. And since the car paint is pearlized, it will change with the light, while the wheels won't. Still looks good, though. I'm a big fan of white over white.
