hey everyone,
im looking for a good reliable car for my sister and was interested in the mazda 3. she'll just be using the car as a daily driver, not as a performance car. i dont know much about mazdas, but are they reliable or do they tend to have problems (ie: mechanical, technical, etc...) or would u recommend another car in the same class?

-thanks

P.S. ive already done research, i just wanted some first hand info, so please dont flame me.

Subaru!?!?!

lol j/k... i don't have a 3, but I do have a 2003.5 Protege 5 (it's the hatchback one-sheesh <mazda newb>) I have never had ANY problems with it.. I have almost 50k on it and only oil changes for me... i think you'll find that most people have real reliable cars 'cept wen you boost them (overboost = BOOM)

Also since the 3 first came out in 2004, it'll be hard to judge the realiablity of it long term, since most 3's on the road now are still under Warranty... I would definately use the data of Mazda's track record to guage how realiable the 3 will be.

i have an 04 here and nothing but a few tsb's (first year model) the newer ones have very few tsbs and are very reliable... also they are a blast to drive if you are comparing it to other cars in its class i would imagine civic, corolla and tc would be the other ones... have your sister take each one out and see which she likes the best... if she is a driver then the 3 would probably be her choice if its more for looks then the tc or corolla s may win her over...

good luck with the purchase
