what's up guys n e one know what type of shocks we have on the rear of the speed 3's. I was leaving for work today and i pulled my bro's car out of the driveway and as i was walking up to my car and saw a puddle of fluid under the rear passenger side tire i checked the break line and it seems fine than i stuck my head under the car and the entire shock looked like it was leaking. i have an appoinment w/ mazda on sat but i'm probally going to check it out for my self on fri when i get home from work any info would be helpful thanks!!!

Warranty, warranty, I have read they are pretty good units. If i had to pay for it myself I would upgade on almost any part. To answer your q? I do not know, but I am surprised as I have not heard of this failure on the forums yet. Good luck with Mazda!

this happened to me too. I didnt even see the leaking. When i brought it in for an alignment the tech told me my right rear shock was leaking. Have not made an appointment yet.

well thanks for the help and not saying i dont love the car but this is the 6th problem i've had w/ it and i only have 5261miles on it and its almost 2 yrs old and i'm considering trading it in for the evo... but well see what happends at mazda tomorrow

if i can afford it the gsr was 36,900 and the mr was 42,000 the mr is slightly out of my price range i'm going back today to see!!!

Sounds like fun to me, going to look at and hopefully test drive. we will miss you but sounds like you are justified and headed for performance fun. The problem I have with the potential ownership of an all wheel drive rally car is I would want to pitch sideways on every dirt and gravel road I came across because that is their design heritage. Shoot, I even want to rally drive my speed3 sideways under same conditions. But I cannot because it will chip the paint and tear up the undersides, especially stainless exhaust. I need a dinged up old subie or old audi this winter to satisfy my urge. while the speed is on 'blocks'

5261 in 2 years!?!?!?! Wow i wish i drove that much im like half a year and at 10,500 and it SUCKs. between driving 45mins to work everyday and then 20 mins to my gfs everyday and everywhere else i need to go i spend alotta time diving at at the gas station.

From what I've read our stock shocks are very cheaply made garbage. This is no surprise. I'm waiting for the Speed 3 specific Koni's to come out.

Next season should bring more speed3 specific options I hope. The new sway bars and the springs are now installed. Sure will be nice finish with some 5 way adjustable bits, and Konis would be a good choice I'm sure

well looks like i'm getting the evo not til jan of feb tho the car will be silver just like my mazda now and hopefully my brother will be buying my mazda so its not going far i'm test driving the evo tomorrow in jersey as the dealer ship here does not have one available to test drive so i'll let you guys know how it is!!!

well i got the mazda back today one day after test driving the evo x and i gotta say the evo is a very impressive car handeling, power, breaking the interior is nice and comfortable but i like the mazdas better i mean i couldent be to crazy w/ it as the sales guy was in the car w/ me but looks like i'm selling the mazda and getting the evo mr that's the only reason why i have to wait til jan even than dont think i'll be driving it in the snow

IIRC, one of the major auto rags (Motor Trend, I think) had to replace a shock before 30,000 miles.
