Mazda Infotainment Settlement

Settings//Devices - Results in three rows of choices being displayed in a table:

Bluetooth
Android Auto
Apple Car Play

We connect her iPhone or, have already connected, before any of the above menu navigation is performed and a check mark appears at the right in the display. We then selected 'Apple Car Play' with the knob on the console and the 'Car Play' App does the rest. Our son got this working for her.

So it appears are needs are met. I think we'll need to evaluate this further because the SD card issue is not in our current solution. I would say the new SD card from Mazda is the choice we would make if we need to take that step. I cannot claim she is having many issues with her use of the touchscreen.

We'll have to continue monitoring this.
If you already have the navigation SD card, all you have to do is to ask your son to download the proper version of Mazda Toolbox for your car and get an SD card reader. Once you have these, insert the SD card in the reader, connect it to your computer( son’s computer), open the Mazda Toolbox.
It will read the card, it will show the VIN number of the car and the expiration of the data base on the card. Then you should have the option of buying new subscription and you ( your son) will figure out the rest. Good luck!
 
I thought Android Auto and Apple Carplay were introduced in 2019?

Wired AA and ACP can be retrofitted to some older models (2014 and up) by purchasing a kit and updating the firmware. The kit, made available sometime in 2019, includes an upgraded USB hub and wiring to support AA/ACP, and the firmware has to upgraded to version 74.xx.xx or later.

The fact that you have the Car Play system installed already would have been some useful information to start out with...
 
Hello, we just bought a 2018 touring cx5. Radio worked flawless on the test drive. Now every once in a while it will act like someone is pushing buttons and run through menus. I assume since we bought it used it is not covered by any warranty. It does not have navigation yet but I am planning on buying an aftermarket one as I bought one for my 2016 when it was new and it is still working great.

My question is what is the fix for this issue?

Did you read this thread? Warranty has been extended for 24mos... take it to the dealer and ask.

Otherwise, you need to buy your own new touchscreen and replace it, or have it replaced.

Your touch screen developed what it is called "ghost touch". I've had similar issues with my car. I bought a used display from ebay, and installed it. No more troubles.

Yea I did read it. Just didn’t see what the fix was. I doubt a 2018 would be covered by any warranty would it?

I saw one on Amazon for $80 and am going to try it just to see if it fixes the issue.

Well, I suggest you didn't read it closely enough. I quote:

"The following models are covered by the Settlement: Mazda2 2016-2022, Mazda3 2014-2018, Mazda6 2016-2021, CX-3 2016-2021, CX-5 2016-2020, CX-9 2016-2020, and MX-5 2016-2023."

I advise to look up on e-bay, by the part number and from a seller with good rating. Look up for one from a seller who posts the VIN number and the mileage of the original car. At 80 dollars you've probably seen just the screen, not the whole display. It's actually a lot easier to replace the whole display, rather than replacing just the touch screen, less headache and less bolts to take out. This is the one that I bought: Mazda CX-5 display 7" .
