Mazda 6 Towing Help!!!!

I am currently trying to tow a U-haul trailer down to Florida from Wisconsin. The trailer is 5 X 8 and weighs 900 lbs. I am hoping to put about 700 lbs of stuff in it, which would result in about 1600 lbs of stuff being towed. Will my Mazda 6 (V6) be okay towing this all the way down to Florida without buying a transimission cooling system. U-Haul was trying to convince me that I needed one for $160. Is there anything inexpensive I can do to make this easier on my car? Thanks for the help.

$160 is pretty inexpensive when you consider it.

Also, are you aware that towing a trailer with your 6 will void your warranty? Mazda flat out says do not tow a trailer with this car.

They say that to cover their ass in case something fails on the car but keep in mind that this car was in no way conceived to tow anything behind it's ass.

I you do choose to tow anything, I recomend you stay under 1000 lbs and that you do get the tranny cooler installed. The transmission will discharge more heat due to the extra load.

Yeah what year mazda 6 and what tranny? Did you already have a hitch hooked up and towed something before this?

Interestingly enough Mazda specifically states that the car is NOT designed to tow ANYTHING. Any problems resulting could well void your warranty if you are still under it.
I've towed more with lesser vehicles but don't think I would jeapordize my warranty coverage to do it.
