Mazda 3 Sedan trunk light mod

Well this is more for the sedan guys and girls out there.. but have you ever been outside some place with almost no light in the truck and try to find something? well then this is for you!

at first everyone thought i was going to rice out the car with these led lights (which came with a strobe box) but i ditched the box and just used the lights.

so what we did was not so easy but it worked in the end..

1. pop up the plastic behind your back seat! (after pulling your seats down) you need to take the plastic on the sides off to.
2. find the wire that connects to the trunk bulb (please take the bulb out first) we cut the wire right out of the bracket but if you wish to reuse the little light then take the brackets off.
3. mount the two led lights. mine came with brackets which we bent to fit.
4. wire up the to lights and enjoy

im sorry i dont have better pictures but i never thought about it until after.

this is my buddy who did most of the work lol

a video of how it looks

Ive had a sedan, 3 5's and 2 3 hatchbacks...trunklights suck on all of them but with led lights on phones (and streetlights) Ive never wanted to go to extremes like you have but...good job on what youve done!

lol thanks. this is a .99 ebay plus shipping which was 10 bucks i think? so after it was all said and done cost me like 15 bucks :) that includes coffee

Looks nice. I did something similar with my 5-door, except with two superflux LEDs. I just used those as I had them from another project, but I wouldn't have minded something with a few more lights in them.

Incidentally for anyone not wanting to cut up any wires you can get an adapter that will plug into the 194 socket which has two wires coming out of it. That way you only have to unplug it and put a bulb back in to go to stock. Not that clipping a wire here or there is the end of the world. lol

thanks!

if i had of known about that bulb i would have gotten that.. any ideas how much they are?
