May shed CX-9 GT for 2010 Mazda3

I am trying to talk my wife into selling her 12 mo. old CX-9 AWD GT for a 2010 Mazda 3. While I like the CX-9 and it's got all the goodies-nav, gameboy sys, moonroof, satellite radio, tow, etc-it's pricey and uses a fair amount of gas. Plus, my wife doesn't really drive anywhere except to take the kids to school which is 1 mi away. So this beautiful car basically sits in the garage and collects dust on its white pearl paint.

I was thinking about taking Mazda up on the 229/mo lease with 0 down on the new 3's. We'd be going from a 42K car to a 17K car, but the new 3's are nice, and I have an 07 Mazdaspeed3 which is an awesome car and probably shares some of the basic DNA with the regular 3.

What do you guys think? Will I regret it? We have two kids so the extra space is "nice" but not a requirement. We only use the third row when company is around. The second row in the 3 is a lot smaller, so we would miss the legroom of the 9.

I have three kids and need all the room I can get, especially on trips. If your family travels I think your going to miss the cx9. You already have a small car , why get two. If it sits why don't you swap with the wife on occasion. Also, as my kids get older, more friends seem to pop in the car. Something to think about IMHO.

^ Agree, that may be a good point. Also, I don't think we could live with the base model 3, we'd probably end up spending over 20K anyway just to get more options. We actually only paid 29K for our CX-9 b/c it had 2K miles on it, even though the MSRP was 42K.

Right now, we have 07 CX-9 TR and 10 Mazda3 GT.
We have 2 kids, 6 and 2. We just had a 10 days vacation around San Jose, Las Vegas, DisneyLand, San Diego Zoo, Universal Hollywood on our CX-9. MPG is really good. It was a really nice and happy trip.
We really love our Mazdas.
I am planning install remote engine start on Mazda3. I am looking for best price and do it myself as on CX-9.
