map clamp help

Ok so i built a map clamp according to the instructions....now when i turn the boost up it doesnt fuel cut but the car surges. I am not sure what is causing this...has anyone else experienced this or something similar with clamp? I Have adjusted the voltages all over the places and it still seems to do nothing.

well you may need colder spark plugs, or if you have a bad stock CDFP you are probably running out of fuel. be carefull. thats how a few have joined the zoom zoom BOOM club !
 
Which is what we have on our cars come to find out. Why does one map clamp? i might need one
 
I aggree as i have gotten fuel cut at 16 psi before i got the standback... I had to set my map clamp to 8.5 psi so that it will not cut.
 
What mods did you have prior to standback that caused your cut at 16psi? I haven't seen MS3's having cut at 16psi, you have a MS6. I have also not seen anyone set a map clamp that low on a MS3. There is fuel related cut and boost related cut on the MS3.
 
So if I were to say, only want to run 17lbs max for real what device would you suggest I use that will allow no spikes. i am still learning about the forced induction world>thanks
 
Map clamps don't prevent spikes they prevent your car from using its safety measures when they occur. In other words if you are boosting too much the car will got boost before the engine blows, the map clamp prevents this from happening but also allows you to run more boost without the ecu freaking out. Map clamps are a horrible idea if you care about your engine.
 
Map clamps are fine and they are proven to work. Anything that get more juice out of your engine could be said to reduce the life of it.
 
thats true but map clamps are more likely to cause damage because they prevent the ecu from protecting against damage. Its like your playing with a gun without the safety on.
 
If you are running more boost than normal for the car shouldn't you add more fuel?

This is why you never put one on without a quality boost controller. My boost control system is completely stock except for the BPV and I see spikes every time I floor the gas, so the factory system is no great shakes at controlling them anyway. A decent boost controller will limit them just as well.
