MAF Sensor?

OK, This question is for the veterans. I've read on the Focus website that some of them are getting MAF's off of Ford Ranger pickup's & I believe Mustang's as well. Alright my question is... could we do the same. After all our engines are very similar. i said similar not the same. I got this idea after I read that the new Mazda 6 is using a Ford computer. Is it possible???

hehe i am by far not a veteran but will take the bait.

As long as the maf is the same 4 pin harness as on my 2.0L i am sure you can. The problem with doing this modification is its not just swapping in a bigger maf. A larger maf will let more air in but will give the ecu incorrect information pertaining to the air flow because it is calibrated for a different vechicle. What happens is a lean condition occurs because of the extra air without the extra fuel. big trouble! :( The solution is getting a recalibrated maf that will give the correct values to the ecu.

from a newbie i hope this helps :)

That mesh just pulls out. Not much of a hp difference, but the throttle response is slightly improved.
