made my last payment today woot

Ill trade you for a classic....A 1990 Honda CRX SI!!!!! Haha!!! Its payed off too...35xxx miles on the motor...Haha.

man, someone give that guy a blue ribbon!!! i have almost that many miles and we've only had ours for a year and a half!!!!

you guys wanna know how to beat the system with a new car purchase? this is how you do it! i applaud you're ability to stick to a regimen of getting it paid off early. i don't know how old you are, but it definitely shows a sign of maturity. and it sure is nice to have a lot of warranty left on something that is paid off. it is a good way to build credit as well.

do the same with a house, one that is under your budget, and you can really shine!!!! i have a 30 year loan on a house that is way under my budget, i will have it paid off in 15 years, maybe less, and that turns into incredible equity (not to mention all of the 'sweat equity' DIY things that add value).....and burn money for a house a lot bigger (if i feel like it) on about the same monthly....

not trying to sound like a know it all (and i'm NOT, believe me, i have made my mistakes, too... learn from them), but this is a good lesson for you younger guys. want to be worth something, instead of in debt, bankrupt and apartmented when you are 30? three rules. 1) stay away from credit cards 2) go to college... even 60 hours, about 2 years will increase your net worth by a lot, over time, given you get off your ass and apply yourself 3) learn to live at about 50% of what you bring home.......

further lessons from the old guy on an as needed basis. PM me if needed. :D

i'm 37.
i wish i knew what i know now, back when i was young. i did the whole credit card thing, had to file BK 4 years ago (after letting all that ride for 10+ years)
tip for youngsters, don't co sign or open any joint accounts with a gf because when she's your ex, things go south.

i was able to rebound off the bk within 1.5 years, i now carry 3 credit cards and rotate them every 4 mos. was able to buy a house and the whole 9. i HATE having debt period. i realize a mortgage is something you're gonna live with, a car payment somewhat, but i wanted to pay the car off as soon as i could, so that the only real debt i have would be the mortgage. rarely do i owe more than 500 a month in credit card bills whereas all my friends owe anywhere from 4-20k on theirs.

i considered walking away from my house, i also owe WAY more than the house is worth, but working so hard to re establish my credit, i didn't want to buy a comparable house for cheaper, and just let mine foreclose as it would absolutely destroy my credit again. (altho you really ONLY Need credit to buy a house and a car for the most part which i have already)

i do want to mod the ms3 more but i think i'm going to wait until the warranty is expired. it's a good feeling to pay something off, the last time i felt this good was when i made my last student loan payment 3 years ago haha.
