Made a move

Greetings all, just wanted to share the news..actually two pieces of news.

Last saturday, some inattentative (go figure) mini-van driving woman plowed into the side of my car in the Home Depot parking lot, giving my driver's door a really nice 'custom' look. I was making a left turn onto a road within the parking lot that she was waiting to pull out of. Despite my use of the turn signal, she didn't realize I was turning and was paying more attention to what was behind me (nothing) and before I could complete the turn, she barreled out into the intersection. Totally her fault, and thankfully she's insured. The check is in the mail from SafeCo. They don't THINK the door is structurally damaged, so it's door skin, ground effects and paint. The window frame is mis-aligned, so there's SOME structual damage that I guess they plan to straighten. I'd share a picture, but they've recently blocked us from getting on PhotoBucket at work...so.....if I remember to do it on the rare occasions I'm home, I'll post it then.

Anyway....that was the final catalyst I needed to get serious about trading in the car, and that's what I did last night. Between the wierd problems I've been having and the ones I anticipate having (smoking turbo, mismatched paint, multiple oil leaks that are already present, filing bankruptcy from so many tire purchases, etc), I thought it best to get out of such a tempermental (yet wonderful) car. I'm now the proud owner of a Corsa Blue 2010 Kia Forte Koup. Sat in the garage and played around with it a little last night. This little car has a lot of features for a lowly compact coupe. LOVE the Bluetooth. The seats hug you like I think the MS3 seats probably do. I now have a reason to get an I-Pod. I can happily ditch my garage remote.

I will definitely miss the WHOOSH and the AWD grip, but look forward to better MPG and lower insurance.

This isn't farewell...I'll be snooping around the forums, dishing out my usual sarcasm when appropriate.
Wish me luck on my first Korean car! If anyone's interested, there's a very nice Black Cherry MS6 sitting at Huffines Kia in McKinney! Well..it'll be nice when they get the door fixed.

You wouldn't by chance want to sell your RX8 wheels would you?

Congrats on the new ride. Kia is producing some very intriguing cars as of late, both the Forte and Soul are cool looking vehicles with some great amenities.

Sorry to hear about your car and that you're trading it in. Don't forget that we're glad to have all our past and present 6 and Speed6 brethren here anytime. While it may not be a MS6, a lot of us still have a wealth of auto knowledge. So if you don't find a forum for Kia Forte's to ask questions on, come on back and we'll be glad to help out the best we can.

i saw my first forte yesterday, not a bad looking little car. congrats on the new purchase! how much did they give u for the ms6?

Here ya go. My camera over-exposes in bright sunlight, so the color's a bit off...but you get the idea. Can't wait to get the windows tinted.

Wow... Kia is making some good-lookin' cars lately, and this is the best one I've seen. How far they've come from the Sephia deathtrap from the late 90s/early aughts.

I think it would look even better with a slight drop, too.

Congrats, Charlie!

thats actually kinda cool. not a fan of the wheels though.

so, is it a manual. how many cogs this puppy got?

and whats the motor size and hp?

just looked it up. did you get the 2.0 or the 2.4 with the six speed. at just over 2800 lbs and 173 hp. it should move pretty good.
thats better power to weight than a scion tc.

Thanks everyone. It's the SX with the 2.4 and a 6-speed. It's pretty peppy. Averaged 32.2 mpg on the 160 mile trip to and from the farm this weekend.

I have never really liked the wheels on the SX, so I'll very likely be switching. I'm sure they're a common offset / lug pitch, but nobody's listing anything for it yet. For right now, I'll just wait til I need new tires and get wheels at the same time. Hopefully someone has a wide selection by then. I'm picky about my aftermarkets....it took me about 6 months to decide on wheels for my 2004 3i, and I was glad I held out.
