LSD question

I'm not sure here, but with a LSD, shouldn't both wheels be spinning simultaneously? To clarify, I had the front of my car jacked up in the air. I spun 1 wheel and noticed the other side was not spinning. Don't LSD's have some type of a locking mechanism the ensures both wheels spin? Pardon my ignorance for being a newby.

I'm not so sure that would be a good test. It should be torque sensing and without any force on the wheel it probally would not engage.
Just a guess though.

Good point. But, how would then test if it is functional?

LOL, yeah that would be one way but jack up the front end and spin the wheels. I know when ever I've had mine on a lift both wheels spin. I always had a hard time getting my car to stay whenever I did a burn out, even with the E-brake up it would still pull the car.

This is what I thought. I've never encountered a LSD set-up that did not spin both wheels simultaneously. Thanks!
