Love the B&M shifter

Just installed a B&M short shifter. Install was pretty easy with exception of the retaining ring. It gave me fits.

Hey tigerbunch, I installed the B&M shifter last Friday. It really is a great upgrade for the money. Tell me though, are you noticing that the exhaust heat shield is rubbing against the lower portion of the shifter? It seems to be a common complaint from installing these short shifter kits, and I need to get some spacers under there so mine stops clanking together.

The only thing your heat shield is good for is to rattle and get in the way. Just take it off and toss it bro. I took mine off my Civic and I have yet to notice ANY difference. If anything, take it off (it's really easy) and keep it in your garage for a bit and if it get's too hot and the a/c doesn't cover it, put it back on. But personnaly, it's a waste.

for starters...if you read all the install instrucitons from B&M they tell you that the heat shield may hit the shifter...and it may need to be DIMPLED.....

IF You have installed a full cat back and gotten rid of your resonator.....fine get rid of the heat shield...if not....you better just space it down or bend the front of it to clear the shifter...that thing is there for a reason....ITS A FRICKIN HEAT SHIELD!
