sound slike a good exhaust as long as you do not plan to get a header. Believe me, the droning will make you go insane!

That is a video of my Racing Beat with a header. I have a couple leaks at the gaskets, but I will be replacing them this week.

I used to have that setup, but couldn't get the leaks under control so I put the stock manifold back on. I find it sounds much better with the mani...but much slower of course!

raider that link didnt work for me. i dont mind of the megan is loud as hell lol, if i get pulled for it ill just put the silencer in. but i guess ill go ahead and order the muffler when i got the money, and ill see if the guys at streetstyles (the garage i go to) can run me some new piping

link fixed, I KNEW I should have made sure it was right!

If you do not mind the citations for noise having to be signed off, and dealing with all that, cool. I would really just try to avoid the hassles alltogether. But I guess that is just me.

heh yea, i think the only place id have a problem with it is in high point, theyre real strict on noise there, but i dont have to go full throttle so idt itd be a problem

nice exhaust man, sounds real good. lol my whole comp cabinet was vibrating, so its got a pretty deep tone

yea ive heard a lotta great feedback about racing beat, only problem is i cant afford it. i dont have a job, so im kinda limited on funds

hmm kinda sucks, you think there would be anyway to modify it to 2.5? cuz i didnt see a megan muffler with a 2.25 inlet

any auto parts store should sell simple pieces of adapter pipe, one side 2" the other 2.5"

(stoned)

alright cool

check out the new pic i posted, you can actually see my car lol

That's not gonna help a lot. Your options are either to get an axle back exhaust that will bolt on where the current axle back muffler section it, or get a custom made cat back. Buying just a muffler elevates you to the highest form of rice.

I've got the meagan catback and that muffler looks like the exact same one. It sounds mean as hell, but is definitely loud. Drones like a mother on the highway too. The fitment for the catback is a little off, not sure how'd you make out with just the muffler. My .02

i see. well im not really looking for any gains, im just lookin to get a better sound outta the car, i suppose i could get the muffler and just run some piping for axel back. my main reason is i just cant afford a cat back system, and i found this muffler for pretty cheap, and i figured id get it. but we'll see

hmm, ive heard that the megan drones and that it doesnt drone. i dont really mind it, i usually have the music up all the way anyways (rockon) i think ill look at runnin a custom pipe and doin an axelback i think itd make it easier than just mounting the muffler

Stock exhaust (at least on mine) was 2 because it is smaller than the 2.25 that is all the way from header collector to muffler inlet..............

oh ok. i guess im gonna get an adapter and run an axelback figure it might be easier that way, but idk

Those with the Racing Beat exhaust, is it heavier or lighter than stock? Would it be advisable to replace the hangers with say Kart boy hangers when swapping out the exhaust? I am thinking of buying a used Racing Beat for $120 shipped 7000 miles on it.

Cheers

I am not sure if it is lighter, but for $120, do NOT let that slip. Also, do not tell anyone your source. Make sure if is the real on, not the Racing Beat off an MSP.

i have stock hangers, fits fine. I hear they are a good idea tho.

I switched to the kartboy and they are alot stiffer, for the extra few bucks I would get them

Thanks,
I just checked, the Racing Beat web site and found out that there is a difference between the sedan exhaust and the wagon exhaust. The one I had a lead on was for an MP3. I told him about this forum and that he should post it in the for sale section here.

I used to have a Miata and had a thermal exhaust they were great. My pal had a Racing Beat and it was a quality unit as well; just a hint louder than the Thermal.

The RB exhaust is much heavier than the stock one.

I have the full catback system and I love it. At times the droning seems worse than others but it's always tolerable. I've never gotten a headache from it or anything. The sound is fantastic though.

and alot more shiny (dance)

Yep!

The only thing that happens to mine is that since it's heavier it tends to shake when I start the car, after that it's fine. It just rubbed some of the shinnyness away from the sides of the tip.

I'll have to keep an eye and ear on that, I know the other night I had to get a larger hose clamp for the CAI and when I pulled into the parking lot I heard it hit, when the weather gets nicer I will crawl under there to take a look, luckily it is not the daily driver
