I'm not really planning much of the turbo build yet, but I'll probably just stick with a FMIC.

I made some progress tonight and since Wes takes forever to post pics (kiss) I snapped some quick ones.

WTF is that?! Haha. I knew it had a spot of rust before I bought her. I'll clean it up and POR15 it really well before paint.

Also deleted a few things to clean up the bay. I just wish I had a welder to fill some of these little holes I'll no longer need.

I very well might just go that route, thanks for the link, JT. I just hate that big, stupid hardline in there. I want to clean up the bay while I've got everything out anyway. And your setup looks great, man.

Oh, I got approved for Mazdaspeed Membership today too. Woo-hoo!

LMK if you need anything else, i mean i did not remove all the stuff from my bay and run a full standalone but i think IMO, i managed to move and clean a few things up.

Cant wait to see yours once you start cleaning it up and removing unneeded things.

oh nice taped up fenders.. ;)

Nicely done Evan. And cheers guys for answering mah questions, no matter how simple ;) im just dreaming right now. There's an mx5 by my work... Do want. But again, waiting is the name of my game... My devils advocate thing though is, if Mazda did make a running proto of the mps concept, that was TT. Then again, im probably well wrong... Concept to reality, maybe I can try? ;) either way, here's to all going well! Down it once, job well done. Done it twice, what a breeze.

Nick, you have to have two verifiable events logged or building a race car to get approved. The two auto-x's I did qualified. I called to check up on the status because it was pending for a month and it took just a minute and the fella was pretty cool (Scott). I don't think he believed me when I said I was putting a V6 in my P5 though. I was like "Oh sure, there are quite a few out there now.". But you get a discount on OEM parts and get access to diagrams, part numbers and schematics. Very helpful stuff.

JT, always appreciate the insight and help, man. And I'm such a newb for using tape on fenders. Ugh... I need to start wearing sunglasses in the garage from now on. (shady)

KingofSpades, I didn't mean to sound like I was blowing you off or anything. But for the amount of work it would require to swap the KL in and twin turbo it that seems like a huge expensive headache. But again, anything is possible if you have time, patience and a ton a cash for a project like that. It would be epic for sure. The MPS is my dream car. haha

How the hell have I never heard of this? That's an awesome program.

I assumed it was secret club where you could exchange your ricer points for mazdaspeed stickers :P

i would run an intercooler setup in conjunction with methanol, my only gripe with methanol is what happens if the system malfunctions or you run the tank out

Actual meth injection setups have fail safes, like the Snow Performance kit that ties into the Hydra for the MX5's. If it senses either a malfunction, like loss of line pressure, or lack of fluid, whatever, it jumps back to the normal tune sans meth/alcohol. But yeah, if you're just running your own home brew setup that has a "low fluid" warning light for the washer bottle as its most advanced feature, you're taking a bigger risk.

Wes takes forever to post pics

Believe it or not, some people have more than cars in their life. (kiss)

This was me, being jealous at the condition of a southern car

Any good wrenching session is followed by good eats, such as pork chops marinaded in Italian dressing, and butter drenched corn that even Paula Deen could be proud of

You're welcome, though you still owe me a cookie or a sandwich or whatever it was since that 6 rotor finally fired up. ;)

Guess I do... I'll buy ya lunch Friday since it will be our last day of work together. (tear-tear)

Dont worry, I didn't think you were blowing me off. You guys here know a damn sight more than I do and that's why I ask :) I wasn't expecting a "yeah man, I should've thought about that!" or anything. Input and output was all I was aiming for :) im gonna have to get over the wiring bundle, then i can think about the engine. Im gonna need to find fundage first! And a car. Planning is what i do. Too soon most of the time. :/ it builds my anticipation and stuff...

I think the first JDM KLDE swap in my silver P5 was about $3,500 but I bought a new clutch/flywheel, headers, radiator, spacers and such. But it can be done much cheaper with a USDM KL and junkyard/used parts.

This version of the swap will be a bit more expensive since I've got more funding and time on my side.
