I got grief for using mine in the MSP! The advantage is like you said, it is closer to your leg and you do not have to reach to to locate the shifter!
But it makes the throw longer so you are defeating the purpose of the short shifter?
Seems like you spent all that $$ just to go back to the stock-ish height / throw with a different weight... Could've just gotten a different weight knob?

I understand that. Keeping the height the same, shortening the angle, you get a shorter throw.
But as you add height you are negating some of the % of the shorter throw as you are making the travel longer.
So my argument is that you can keep the stock setup, just replace the bushings for a better feel (stock rubber is way too soft).

Fez, it's for race car drivers to have their hands closer to the shifter. Hand on the shaft (heh), hand on the wheel. Lickety split, no s***.

I have a long shift knob and short shifter. It makes sense and doesn't at the same time
I like the height of the shifter and have gotten used to it. The only issue I foresee is I had my shifter pop out of 2nd under hard braking twice last season at auto-x. However, my short shifter plate wasn't installed correctly (ahem, Jake) so hopefully that fixed it. But with the taller shift lever it might want to pop out again this season. Guess we'll see.

OEM A/C delete pulley and belt, OEM spin on filter swap and sammich plate (still need to order the Innovate oil pressure/temp gauge from CR3 soon). CX Racing front mount, Kozmic EGR block off plate, and Matt Damond power steering cooler kit.

dsc off even for the icy roads?! dang. That thing saved my @ss the first winter I had the car. My fault for not changing the tires though.
Oh, and that's a cute color. What's the alert color on that thing? Can't think of anything more manly than that.
I always drive with DSC (and TCS) off, regardless of the weather. I've tried driving through snowy conditions with DSC On a few times and I react faster than the DSC does. It's like I'm already counter-steering to correct a slide a split second before the DSC kicks in. Granted, I do have Blizzaks and the MS3 isn't as heavy as the MS6.

I hate the DSC. Hate it. I always turn it off. It's like a preflight checklist, turn on lights, turn off DSC, turn off autodimming mirror, turn on defroster. The one day I forgot to turn off the DSC I was pulling out of our icy parking lot at work and it cut power and scared the crap out of me. I'm getting the hang of how Fatty handles in the snow. All those auto-x'es certainly helped in 2013. This AWD thing is fun in the snow.

Hoosiers, bro. Hoooosiers for the track, bro. Picked them up this morning from Smokeys on North Canton (other two were in the back seat). Those guys are awesome. They only charged me $75 to have the old stretched tires removed, install the Hoosiers and 949 valves and balance. And they have a crazy expensive mounting machine that won't eff up your PC finish.
