Lewis7789 MS6 GT build thread

hmm i like the trick for those cheap caps too, wish i had friends to send me links to save me money.. Be good to those $28 dollar ones i don't wanna have to buy another one for my wheels. :)

^I was just looking for ideas for you JT. I know you want to remove all mazda emblems so I was looking for something other than plain. When you search for Supercharged centercaps all you get is rangerover

na i have nice $28 caps for my new wheels, the previous owner does not abuse his stuff too much so hopefully they are still"mint"

So, motor swap is done and everything went really well.

I started late Friday night, pulling things off and labeling the wiring harnesses. Jake, Dave, V and Peaches came over Saturday to help pull the motor. I forgot to order new Toyota injector seals so ordered them from a local dealership Thursday and should be in Monday. So wrenching away Saturday I didn't check my voicemail until later Saturday afternoon to hear the dealership called and the injector seals arrived. Doh! So we had to wait until Monday to install the injectors and button it up. But still got a ton of work done.

-8am to 8pm Saturday with Jake, Dave, V and Peaches.
-10am to 5pm Sunday with Jake, Dave and V
-Jake and I wrapped it up Monday from 1 to 5

Pablo pointing at stuff while Jake works and V keeps his hands warm.

Dave and I playing jump rope with the ATP dp and header wrap.

Serious business.

HUGE thank you to the guys for helping on their weekend off of work. But a super big thanks to Jake for all his help and driving back and forth 3 days in a row from Parma. I think he's sick of me telling him thank you. lulz

All done and running well.

I'm following this engine break in procedure.
http://www.flyinmiata.com/tech/breakin.php

And will change the oil again tonight (about 50 miles on the motor) and installing a magnetic drain plug (I didn't think to get one for the initial startup, doh!). Then again in 100 miles, one more at 1000 miles then again at 3000 miles. Jake adjusted my map to limit any boost spikes with the new downpipe and the car is running well. Very vibey with the balance shaft delete but revs really easily. I haven't gone into boost until it's fully broken in, but everything feels good. New Redline and Motorcraft synthetic fluids in the trans, transfer case and power steering (rear diff this weekend).

I'm pooped. I'm getting too old for engine swaps, lulz. This has been my 8th swap.

Awesome!

I wish I could've helped out! But I'm glad you got it done and everything is working well.

Well it's Jake's motor now so you might have to deal with him...

Where is the like button to click in here. Oh wait this isn't Facebook. But ya. Good job Evan. Can't wait to see what it's like when u can open her up. Zoom zoom.

You should've installed a FMIC while you were at it, no more keeping your hood open in between Auto-X sessions!

A FMIC is lined up for spring and a proper tune. I didn't want to install one before winter to get it all beat up. But I'll probably just go with the CX Racing kit for ~$350.

Also picked up a brand new CPe triple gauge pod for the center dash from a member on MSF. Then will come a sandwich plate and gauges for oil pressure, temp and something else for the last pod. Not sure what though, any ideas? I already have a Dashhawk for most of the other engine parameters.

And motor is running well. :)

Dashhawk monitors boost, AFR's, engine coolant temp, knock, long term and short term fuel trims, and pretty much everything else the ECU monitors.

But my mentor said a oil pressure/temp gauge would be a good idea. And I do everything he says (Jake).

Oil temp/pressure gauge is a good idea. Just stay away from the cheap prosports. The motor on both oil pressure gauges I've had from them have gone bad. Current one doesn't return to zero when off anymore and reads 8-10psi high.

I've got a random narrowband gauge for your ricey pleasure

Or Corey might have it now...not sure if I threw that box in the MSP too

I had a Prosport oil pressure gauge in the P5 that never worked correctly. I figured I would stay away from them. How about Autometer, they're decent, right? I can't think of any other gauge customers other than Defi but they are crazy expensive.

Also, put my stock heated seats back in this weekend. Man, I forgot how much they suck. It's like you're sitting on the seat, not in the seat. Oh well, they are heated which is nice. And I wanted to trim the Corbeau seats from feet down so it will sit more upright.

If you lived closer i could have your Corbeau seats heated with the OE pads and switches by my upholstery guy, he did my Speed3 seats in the P5.
