I can't see the picture Evan posted last too well but it does look like there are three pins dedicated to a ground: the 2nd (B), 3rd (B) and 4th (B/R?) pins from the right at the bottom of the PCM all look like the connect direction to ground point (5).

Well the diagrams give a identifier for the pin ie. (4e) and then in the bottom left of the diagram is usually a pinout list with wire color and pin number for the harness. Typically 4 being the number of the connector and e being the pin, but not always true.

yeah that actually leads me to a connector\plug that doesn't go to the ECU (it's in the same area though). There's a lot of ground references but it doesn't show the actual pin for ground (or power). One of the diagrams tells me the ground should be 3O, that connector has 4 rows of pins but the plugs going to the ECU only have 2 rows

do u have the pdf and can send it to me? or should i wait on evan?

ok downloading, have like 10 min, I will sort through and see what i can come up with during my slow times in the day.

is evan running a millenia harness and ecu, i know the motor was determined to be one, but whats the harness and ecu out of?

I'm using a 1996 USDM Millenia harness and ECU (KL47). Eventually I would like to swap the KL47 for the JDM KLK1 that came with the motor. Basically the same ECU minus the emissions crap.

The wiring diagram has the 2.3l KJ in there too, that doesn't pertain to me. And All the USDM Milly's were automatics so I have an automatic harness.

ok any chance you could take pictures of the harness ends that plug into the ecu, im thinking they took the two rows on the harness plug and made them 4 rows to consolidate them and save space for printing. Seeing the harness plugs and wire colors would be helpful. If this is the case, then once we figure out how they split them, it should be fairly easy to determine what pins are grounds and what goes where.

Also I thought the Kl47 was a 95 ecu and still obdI? i thought 96+ obdII ecus are named different like the 3rd character is a letter not a number, jsut like the KLK1

I can snap any/all pics you guys would need. No problem. I'll get them as soon as I get home at 5pm.

Well I bought the harness, ECU and disty from Jonridi (or however you spell his forum name) and they came off his 96 Milly. I also saw a 1999 626 with a KLG4 with KL47 markings on the MAF and a few other sensors. But the ECU's were missing from the KL powered 626's at the junkyards...

through some quick searches on ebay the Kl47 comes up as all 1995 ecus, and the KLG8 as the 96 millenia ecu, the connectors do not look even remotely similar. So my guess is if his millenia was a 96 then it was a very early on model still using 95 parts and was obdI. I do see the Kl47 MAF for basically all millenias over the years. And the KL31 MAP sensor was used in the 1.6 and 1.8l and likely 2.0l protege although it has the same number as my JDM OBDI ecu for the ZE. Just for an example.

Here is what I see. Also, the 1996 millenia wiring diagrams I received show 4 rows, the 1996 KLG8 ecu appears to have 4 rows of pins where as the 1995 KL47 ecu has 2 rows and looks more like my OBDI ecu and sounds like your harness has 2 rows too on the plugs.

And the plot thickens..

I'm so impressed by the team effort here! You guys are gonna get the wiring sorted out for sure!

the diagrams match the KLG8 connectors... if that's the case then we're looking at the wrong manual and we would have to revisit some of the wiring done over the weekend...

definitely looking that way, even the blank spots on the plugs in the diagrams line up with the plasti pieces on the ecu.

from the diagrams i've been looking at there are 5 grounds. there are 4 that are black and 1 that is black/red. they all go to 1 ground connector in the rear of the engine.
the 4 that are black goes to pins 4AN, 4AJ, 4AF,4AB and the black/red one goes to 4D. all of these go to the same connector on the ecu and if i counted right then the connector has 34 pins total.
on the same ground connector there is another black/red wire that splits into 2 and both go to the distributor

and thats fine if his harness was a 96 harness for the KLG8 ecu, but since its appearing he actually has a 95 harness and ecu then the colors, pin locations, and connector location are meaningless from the 1996 diagrams that were made available to us.

allright and for a 95 it looks like pins 4A a black/red wire, and pins 4C, 4D black wires are grounds. i will let ya know if i find anything else
