Bullocks. The Protege mount bracket isn't even close. But thank you, Josh, for taking it off and bring it with you.

But the bolts are threaded into the bracket. There might be a slim chance I can just swap them out. But they are probably really stuck in there well. So looks like I may make a run to HD for a die. Or maybe Napa or a local machine shop can do it for me. I would hate to buy a die just to use it once.

Once again, I shoulda bought a ZE...

if you want i could mail you the the tap and die set i have and you could use it.... i mean its just a HF set but your welcome to use it if you want

Thanks for all the offers for help, guys. I have the HF tap/die set too, Levi and it only goes up to 12mm and I think I needed a 14mm. So I picked up some nuts/washers to use as spacers for the passenger side mount. It works, but it aint pretty. I'm probably going to fabricate something better but really need to make progress on getting the motor in so I can start the wiring. I'll take pics of the ghetto passenger setup tomorrow, I forgot to take some. Unless Wes got some.

It went pretty smoothly though. The rear mount lined up pretty quickly, then the front, drivers side and passenger side. Of course, I put the wrong bolt in the front and had to switch them out. Doh! But it's all bolted in, so that's a relief. That's what I was really shooting for today. And I ran the Milly harness along the Protege harness before the motor went in. And I cleaned up the wiring loom and taped it up with new electrical tape.

I didn't have any problems lining up the shift linkages. I know Bull had to lengthen his linkage to get it to bolt up but mine seem okay. Wes went through the gears a few times just to make sure everything worked and it's good. Here's blurry pic, but I'll take a better one tomorrow. And the tranny saver brace installed.

Tessa and Pablo made a wonderful lunch, we got some work done, watched an episode of TopGear and I said "Get ooooouuuut!" and here's the update. I'm sure Wes will be along shortly with the pics.

Tomorrow will be working on the wiring, clutch line, and rear endlinks. And cleaning up the garage, it's so nice to have some room to work again.

This is a pic of Wes's underhood temp gauge. It tells you how the motor is running. Apparently it's running "WELL".

ps- if anyone has a ZE/DE passenger side motor mount bracket for sale, let me know.

Wiring harness, wrapped with the best OCD precision. The wires were first zip tied, then covered in wire loom, and finally double wrapped in electrical tape. They will probably withstand a 200+mph crash...

Hopefully this picture shows off the excellent job that Josh did on the headlights. I am absolutely blown away, they look like brand frickin new.

Also, as Evan mentioned in his post, I have a super high tech non-touch screen information interface, or SHTN-TSII for short, device in my Miata.

I didn't get any pics of the ghetto passenger mount. I was too busy eating the coooookies!

Well, got the clutch bled, wired up the alternator and starter (I think...) and did some cleaning. I'm nervouse to start snipping off plugs I won't need (like the EGR since it's a J-spec motor). But it's coming along. I has no monies till Tuesday so until then it's mostly wiring work.

I posted an ad on Probetalk for the ZE motor mount bracket and within an hour I got a PM with a cat who is shipping me an extra one of his for $30 shipped. Gotta love PT.com. So I'll pull of the ghetto job and bolt in a working bracket, yay.

wow awesome progress. Glad to hear about u getting the mount bracket. Good luck with the wiring, just take time, and dont remove anything if you are uncomfortable until you have it running, then do one at a time and make sure it doesnt affect anything, and make sure they are taped off and not touching each other when you do cut. Looking forward to seeing this running, hopefully soon.

Slowly making progress. I work 8-4:30 in shipping and come home and work on the car. I've been exhausted, heh-heh. So I took a day off yesterday and went for a hike/dinner with my friend. Then called it a night and crashed at 10pm.

But I have been busy. My phone keeps farking up and won't let me upload my pics. But I've got some more wiring buttoned up. And today was spent mostly replacing that motor mount bracket and getting the bloody timing belt covers back on. But the new bracket fits much better. Yay for no more ghetto fabrication. I connected the Protege heater core hoses to the motor, they fit and worked well. But I'm also assuming there isn't a specific direction they have to be, like inlet and outlet since they both merge into the same coolant hard pipe. But correct me if I'm wrong. I plugged in most of the Milly harness into the obvious plugs. And I think I've got the starter and alternator wired up correctly. The biggest confusing is from the tranny. The harness I have is from a US Millenia with an automatic tranny so none of the plugs connect. But I'll be spending yet another night with my manuals sorting out wiring schematics. But it's finally looking like a normal engine bay. Sorta. I still haven't cut anything from the Protege or Milly harness because I'm too scared. heh-heh.

Tomorrow I'm going to Autozone for supplies. Cheap Oil and filter, coolant and distilled water, power steering hose, and a few other things I have on my list I forgot at work. I still need to decide on a radiator...

I dont have any of the v6 harness running to any of the trans sensors. Leave the reverse light switch on the protege harness since there is no input on the v6 ecu for reverse its just for the back up lights. And the speed-o sensor is left on the protege harness so ur speedo works. There is no need for the neutral switch. Just hook the clutch switch at the pedal to the v6 ecu since its a single input on the v6 ecu for both the neutral switch and clutch switch.
