KL-03 vs KL-ZE

Congrads on the ZE purchase. I personally like the hotshot intake and headers. A couple more bolt-ons and you just might reach 200whp. Too bad the engine has no torque :(

What? the KL-03 has 160, so im guessing about the same alittle more!!! thanks(thumb)

Ok so now i'm doing my first Mod to the car (CAI) don't know which one to get!!(uhm)

Hotshot CAI=$225 Hotshot.com
Injen CAI=$224 corksport.com
PRM CAI=$179 corksport.com

Don't know which one would gain&perform better?? I been looking on probetalk.com and mostly everbody's using the Hotshot CAI. This is a tough decision, i kinda like the looks of tha Hotshot

Get an ebay one, they go for about $60 and some already come with a k&n filter

go with a home depot one, that's what i ran :)

Don't i have to custom cut&weld just to make it fit!! $ isn't an issue just don't know which one to get, I'm kinda leaning towards the (HS) CAI.

I don't trust (EGAY) & those intakes, id rather ditch out the extra $110-170 for the HS, Injen, or PRM.

me and my friend just turboed his klze probe. the thing is a monster from a pull. built everything from scratch, manifold ic pipes, everything. it wasnt that hard to do, and it was well worth it. go for some boost and get megasquirt to tune wit, and u will love life.
u can also check out probeaddiction.com, they got some good parts that might work well for what u are lookin for.

i'll be looking forward to Turbo the ZE, but for right now i wanna stay N/A!! Even if i Turbo the MX-6 later-on, i'll have to get lower compression pistons. I've heard with the JDM ZE swap and few bolt-ons, it should be a high 13sec car.

I'm surprised no one mentioned this but the 195-200 horsepower rating that the ZE engine has is running Japanese 102 octance gas, you'll actually end up with about 185 hp running 92 octane. Still a great motor and has very good torque when compared to the 2.0 of the base model. The one thing to remember about the engine is that the rods and pistons are very light weight from the factory and do not like taking too much extra pressure, so if you boost you'll want to look into a stronger rod and piston set with anything over 9 psi. You can definitely have a lot of fun with the MX-6 though, I miss my 94 but had to et rid of it, way too much of a pain to get two kids in baby seat in the back with me and the wife in front. You can still see the mods I did to it over at www.SCPOC.com Just look in the gallery for Greg's MX-6.

I have a friend who only run's 110octane in his TC/GNC, so maybe i could get some fuel for max performance from him!! BTW: did you have the 03 or ZE motor nice ride, i love the look of the MX-6!!

yeah, with a few bolt ons and the right ecu, it will be a quick car. he is runnin the american ecu, and it is runnin pig rich, bc the timing in the ecu is a lil different than the timing in the motor. he still has the stock compression pistons in the motor, and it still runs strong, considering he is only runnin a FMU for fuel managment. so far, so good.

I was running the 03 as I always had plans to supercharge it. If you run the 110 octane you'll be good if you are runnign the Japanese ECU. There are also a couple of guys who have cracked the ECU codes for the KL series engines for reprogramming with boost.

If you plan on doing the F/I, whether it be turbo or supercharging, just go with the KL03!!! Youll save a ton of money cause youll wind up having to get lower compression ratio pistons anyway if you have a KLZE, and the ZE aint much stronger than the 03 so your gonna have to upgrade either motor once you surpass a certain hp point which is 250whp?

I already did the KLZE swap so that's outta the picture. Plus i wanna stay N/A for awhile, s*** people on the boards with the swap+bolt-ons are running 13's. That's ok for now until i enter the (Darkside)!!
