KABOOM.... well it was fun while it lasted

ok i might be going crazy, but were are you people finding MSP lsds in junkyards? car-part.com only lists the entire tranny from what i see and its big bucks. any idea how much a open differential will cost? this phantom grip sounds like it might work for me if i can find an open diff.

i got the car towed to my shop last night, im going to fix a leaking toilet and then take the trans out, ill take some pics.

10-14psi for over a year, yeah it had some good times. but i never did burnouts, or brought the car to the track, thats how it didnt break in the first month or two im sure. when it broke , i wasnt even playing with my car for a few days, it just sorta crapped out in day to day driving.

I'm not running THAT much PSI but this is what scares me. It makes me want to trade the car in ASAP.

If you are worried then have it welded up good. Much cheaper than replacing, and I don't think any welded lsd's have blown yet.
I plan to get mine welded whenver the clutch is replaced. Just gotta cross my fingers that the LSD lasts longer than the clutch, haha.

the stock clutch holds surprisingly well providing you dont do launches or burnouts. thats what i was planning to do, but lucky me :)

sorry for the bad luck. Hopefully mine holds out for a while longer. So let me get this straight a 2002+ protege trans will work?

Take it to mazda... it's documented that the lsd is weak. If you haven't done burnouts, or really abused it, there is no reason why it should've broken. jmho

Dude, mazda will pay for that, there is an updated. LSD setup that they are replacing it with. warranty will pay for it. they will only charge you if they have to mess with any of your aftermarket parts. or if your aftermarket parts get in the way of their work. i have seen them warranty an engine in a rx-8 that was dammaged because of the greddy turbo system. hell you pay for the warranty, why not use it.
