KABOOM.... well it was fun while it lasted

What's the point of having an LSD if you weld it? Wouldn't that change it from a limited slip to a NO slip and make it damn near impossible to steer?

I still worry that welding it might do more damage than good. Two bad things can happen: 1) Rotation is out of balance 2) Localized welding heat messes up the metal grain structure

We need to find out who has welded their lsd AND driven it for a while.

Dig out that CC, spend the money on a Quaife. It will not break and the difference will be amazing.

yeah, but if he is willing to go open diff like he said, then he is showing that something that extreme will do him no good.

the car seems like a dialy driver

just weld up a MSP diff.

ok i am stuck with th euninstall. The tranny is seperated about an inch from the motor, drivers side axle is out, all bolts are out. The passenger side axle is still int. How do I get it outta there? the instructions become a bit vague at this point "wiggle it till it comes loose" well i wiggled it for damn near 2 hours last night, I can see my flywheel and clutch, I just cant get the tranny completely off. Do I have to take out the pass side axle like i did the drivers or can it pop out? how expensive is that metal gasket that goes between the motor and trans? mines chewed to s*** now

Mine's been welded for a few months now. 325 WHP and it's perfectly fine.

Yes yes yes!! Quaife All the way! =)

YES I love mine. I broke my LSD at 47k miles back in November, same exact thing as you. I was driving to the store, it popped out of 3rd, ground some so I pulled in a parking lot where I found out I could shift through all the gears without the ebrake and still not move haha... The Quaife is the best thing I have done for the car. Everyone that drives it loves it, the combo of that and the stage 3 clutch were really worth it... No more torque steer, wheel spin, it just grabs and goes :)

sounds like you need to spend some time with a light.take your time look around, there is something holding it,find out what it is,fix it.

I have taken many out,and some times it can be a b****,sometimes they just slid out.

I can't tell you what is holding it exactly, because I can't see it.so just take your time, and find the problem.

lol ok i must have done something wrong. there is a one inch at least gap between the motor and trans. i can slide my finger between the two the whole way around, nothings bolted in. i have a 2 foot bar that i am using to seperate the two. i am 6'1 around 210 pounds and i gave it all i could for so long yesterday that i had to stop because i was getting so frustrated i thought i was going to smash the car to smitherines with my pry bar. I have done every step in the guide mentioned earlier in the post up to where it says "now just wiggle the tranny free" the gap is big enough that i can put my hand inside the bellhousing and touch the finger plates on the clutch. it just doesnt want to move any further (i have no problems sliding the tranny around, but like i said, the max it will move is a little over an inch, maybe two inches when im giving it full force with the prybar. is there any ways the broken lsd could be holding them together or something? i dont have a helper, but man im under the car pushing the trann with both of my legs towards the drivers side (i can just scqueeze my toes in the gap enough to push it) plus at the same time giving it hell with a monster pry bar and it still wont budge any further, nothing is hitting also;

now that i look at i again, it looks like about .5 inches of the pssger side axle is exposed, it just wont go all the way out.

btw --- that little metal circle piece that goes on the axle right before it meets the trans, is that piece vital at all? got a bit bent up from my prying, just seems to be a guard or something. man i wish i could show you guys pics, but i dont have the cable to connect it to my pc :(

We also had problems with the drivers side axel on the tranny swap.

there is a compression ring that sits on the end of it. I don't know what to tell you. Ours was a b**** to take out but it did...

compression ring eh, is it a flimsy metal piece thats round near the end of the axle going into the trans? I dont know if it was in the tranny a bit or if it is suppost to stay outside an be a guard....either way it isnt round anymore.....
