Just got my shiftboot from Redline..install question???

I got my shiftboot from Redline...finally, but worth the wait and great service..

none the less.

I have a question, did anyone have to re-use the OEM plastic ring to get everything fitting right????

cause it did not say this in the online instructions...so I am wonder how everyone installed there shiftboot...

and if the OEM plastic ring has to be used, any tips on how to transfer it onto the new shiftboot

i didn't reuse it iirc i just screwed down the shift nob on top of the boot to hold it in place??? its been a while though if you are still having issues i will take a look when i get home from work.

I reused mine. Peel the old boot material off the plastic ring. Stick the ring to the top of the new boot with 3m weatherstrip adhesive.

Any pictures of your shiftboot installed?

In my case...

I am going to be using this 3M spray on adhesive that should stick the sucker...

but seeing how someone mentioned reusing the ring

Here's a pic of when I had mine. I reused the ring, but didn't glue it on to the new boot. I just placed it were it should be, and held the boot down with one hand and tightened it with the other until the knob started to keep it down. Tightened it carfully and held the boot straight with my other hand so it wouldn't spin until tightened all the way.

I resused mine but no glue. Just held it together while I screwed the knob down. thats been good enough for the past several months.

I just glued the OEM plastic piece to the new shiftboot..

in case you are wondering here is what I installed:

Black Alcantra shift boot (height adjusted to 2.5" lower) +3M Spray adhesive
TWM ShortShifter
ARC Titanium Shift Knob
