Just finished MSP turbo install on MP3 & Bogging hard! HELP

hey smart guy take a look at the thread in the for sale section.....there are pics. As it says originally...."in the for sale section" . Anyways lets not steer off topic here guys, I know I started it, my bad. As I said before I have the ss afc and boost gauge on the way but untill they get here and I know if it will even fix my prob this issue just drives me nuts

dont piss off people that have done the same swap and probably know exactly whats wrong with your car lol....anyways. instead of making us go looking for them...post em here.

oh and no the ssafc will not fix the problem...it may cover it up some, but you still have a underlying problem

and whats the deal with this boost control solenoid....I dont have one is that bad?? Nor do I have any vaccuum to my intake manifold?

look dude the boost solenoid came factory on your car so unless you removed it and never hooked it up then you have it...just take some pics of your intake manifold area

lol gotcha. I misunderstood it i guess. Never claimed to being the brightest crayon in the box. Just checking cuz I wanna come at this thing from every angle. I noticed on mazdas parts list there is a 3 way vacuum T with 3 lines and the only vac I have running is one for the bov and one for the wga both to a vac block. So that with the combination of the boost solenoid I heard about, it worried me. I just related "boost" solenoid to a boost model only car. But thanks man.

by the way I saw alot of people mentioning the concept of cold weather and a fmic in combination with the MSP ecu having something to do with it. So it is winter where I live but even with an increase on 30 degrees here today there was no difference in how it drove. Hits a wall hard around the same rpm. Its like its being choked and strangled. weird s*** dude. Another thing that worries me is as I think about it why is there others out there with tons of MSP's or even converstions who have'nt had to get the ss afc...why me. Either way its on the way so we'll see

actually until i got the ssafc on mine it ran like pure ass too...i guess if you have no leaks and stuff then just put it on.

You'll have more insight when you know your vac reading at idle and boost psi.

On another note, what spark plugs are you using and what is the gap set at?

Using obx plugs, not sure how good they actually are. I really couldnt tell ya the gap though. And dude trust me as soon as my gauge gets here friday Ill install and post more info.

hey mp3-79bronco when you say it ran like ass....was it similar to mine. Like cutting and choking out around 4k rpm? The whole car jerks. Smooth as hell though at low rpm

Unless you really know how fuel cut feels, a super rich running ride can bog hard and feel like fuel cut. I'd lose the OBX plugs, ASAP. NGK ZFR6F for ~9psi and under. ZFR7F for 10psi+. Gap to .028 or .030

I'd get some NGK copper plugs, stock no 4291s and gap them within the specificed range of 0.028-0.031.

Your problem could be as simple as the weather, too much boost and wrong plugs with an unknown gap. Or it could be a little more complex, which I am seriously doubting at this point.

alot of guys are able to run with just he Stock MSP ecu because it's actually a decent tune. Rich...but safe. I can 100% tell you that the split second will not fix your issue. change out those plugs as mentioned ASAP, I'm running one step colder due to the larger turbo. But you should be ok with stock heat range NGKs.
Save yourself the stress and Headache and just order yourself a new WGA and call it a day!!! I have answered this same question soooo many times and after they changed everything out the WGA was the culprit. I was just like you looking for another answer when the whole time it was staring me in the face and laughing.

I guess I look at things different. When an issue presents itself, I look at what maintanence problem is causing it first then work out from there.

thanks guys.....Ill pick up some plugs today as they are pretty cheap. I hear ya ZUKU on the wga issue. I think Im gonna pick up someones forge on here but seeing as I already ordered and payed for the ss afc I wanna see if that will help. Ken is hard as hell to get ahold of at protegegarage. Wanna know if my order shipped yet. .......O yea my gauge will be here today or tommorrow at the latest so I will post the readings here once it arrives.

by the way zuku....any idea when these wga's go mileage wise. Because as far as Im told my whole kit including wga has only 30k on it or so. I mean the turbo was clean enough to eat your dinner off of. Bad enough the sway bar bushings on these go fast dont tell me the wga's go like hot cakes to dude

+1 on plug gap, if your not getting a CEL it might not be fuel cut. i was in a rush throwing in the junkyard motor and threw the NGK zfr6f in without gapping them. i was getting some hesitation between 4300-5000rpms. closed the gap and it fixed it. lesson learned. lol

I am throwing a cel. for the vtcs for starters. Anyways I just threw in my BOOST GAUGE and soon as I started up the car the gauge went to -10 on the vac side of the gauge and stood there. The needle never rose even while driving and letting the turbo spool up as much as it could without cuttin out. I gotta say it does seem to cut out a little higher the warmer it gets outside. But still I must have a prob wit my vac somewheres. The gauge is stuck on 10 downwards on the vac side from the time the car starts to when I shut it off. Does this sound familiar to any of ya?
