Just a little teaser for next week..

Great Job, and Thanks for trying something DIFFERENT. Job well done, a little job done is better than a big job talked about. Great Job

the car really feels amazing, idk if its because of going from a 45 tire to a 35, the width of the tire, the better tire, the wider tire, or the combination, but the car feels much better. torque steer is a bit more noticeable, but i can live with that. the alignments fine and i still need to go get one!

just an update.. i rolled the rear fenders until we couldn't go any further, and i was still rubbing, so i had to go with my worst case scenario, raise the rear coils. im pretty bummed, but the front is still slammed with no rubbing so its got a nice raked look. i will post some pictures tomorrow of the finished product.

and thanks for all the compliments fellas, im pretty proud of it myself!

I feel you.. Im running a set of WORK VS-XX's 18 x 8 in the front 18x9 on 225's all around .I also have the BC coilovers. All my clearance is good but these freakin MAZDA fenders.

I have rolled them as much as you possibly can and still I rub while making aggresive hard turns.. ONLY in the rear though. I refuse to flare them out cause it will cringe and mess up the paint and not look clean at all.(gun)

ok... old guy opinion...

and by the way.... i take offense to this comment...

"even on the stock "monster truck" height" :)

-madvillagecrazymanguy

this is a LOW car to begin with... add my 240lb frame (and add one of my friends as a passenger).... and VOILA! instant ride height adjustment.... and believe me, you would not want to drive that thing on the uneven concrete freeways we have here in texas... not unless you are also familiar with the way they break horses in this fine state... :)

low, light ass car... stiff ass suspension... super low ass profile tires... YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! oh yeah... and your a woosie if you have to use two hands on the wheel... hehehehe

i have to say the new photos make it look better... much better... i would have to say, YOU WIN! i don't think you can go much wider than that...

i followed this thread a bit... just to see how it would work out... i thought it would look a bit mickey mouse go cart style... but it really doesn't ... i agree that raising it a bit (just a touch) in the front would complete the look.. it would even it back out. it would make it look less 'worn out front suspension'.... remember, you don't have to be the lowest anymore... now you are the widest... yeah.

also... i'm wondering who the next one will be to step up with the 18X9s and use a bit more offset to get them back under a bit more... hmmmmm

Will There Be Wheel Spin at the Tracks?

I'm on stock Potenza tires and rims and was wondering if I'll still have big wheel spin after burning out at the drag strip. I'm going to one on Saturday morning and want to see how well I do against other students at UTI. Will I still have considerable wheel spin if I drop the clutch at 4k RPM, will there be just a small chirp, or will my tires just catch traction all the way from the beginning?

No traction on stockers even if you soft pedal. I thought it very hard to launch at the drag strip so i went alittle wider and alot softer that helped

Most people say they were rated as pretty good, i guess i never liked them. I could not tell when they were going to break away turning. I bought the nittos and my driving confidence went through the roof. Of course thet wear quickly and do not like rain very much but are nice track tires. I spent a couple weekends at the 1/4 mile on stock tires trying to get a 60 ft worth a damn including 2nd gear launch, rolling out at 2000 rpm and istill could not get under 13.5 and about 2.4 in the 60. That was just with intercooler and mm upgrade. There are lots of opinions about tires. But i did not like them. also i do not think the potenzas needed warm up to get traction. The nittos do though. Good luck and have fun you will get the hang of it and if you wear out the stock tires at the track try a 225/40 and or a little more aggressive tire. The Potenzas did make for great smoke shows though!

Anybody know how much slicks will drain my wallet? I heard there aren't any that fit our car so we have to go for a smaller size...o_o?

What size are you looking for and what kind of slicks? Drag or Track racing?

Drag radials. I just want some good times at the strip...and beat the snot out of my friend's Mach 1. He had some mods on his car, as well, but we're just about even on a 40-roll. I NEED TO WIN!

It looks good. I learned a lesson from my girlfriend, though, and it was don't mix gold and silver (i.e. the interior trim of the GT). Gold on the black exterior is beautiful though :)
