JosueP5's '03 Protege5 Build Thread.

That subs sits really nice in the back there would have loved to do something like that. Hope you get that sub secured though for real.

Ah Interfire... they sure take a beating. Looks great :)

I never heard of them before I bought it! I actually bought a Diamond Audio 4 channel to match the sub and the Diamond 6.5's I had in my truck, but it was dead out of the box, so he exchanged it with this Interfire because they had it in stock and I didn't want to wait for the new amp to come in.

Come to think of it, I don't think I knew of Diamond Audio at that time either. lol Took a chance though, and it's worked out pretty good. 3 years and still going strong!

I'm very happy with the box! It specifically said "hatchback box", but I wasn't expecting it to fit so nice. It sits right up against the back seat perfectly. For $40 shipped, you can't beat that!

And this is why I went with the smaller box...LOL

Looks really good, guy! And that sub box does fit perfectly in there. I'm looking forward to hearing it sometime, just as long as you don't play any 80's music...

And yeah, the 2002.5 and up P5's have stock tweeters in the door. The 2002's don't.

Good news and bad news.

Bad news is, those Autotek 6.5's that came with the component set were DEAD! Don't know how we didn't notice that yesterday, but I noticed today that they weren't on. So, I pulled the panel off and tested them with the factory wiring, and they still weren't working. Then, I tested the Polk 6.5's that were in the car with the factory wiring and the wires from the crossover, and they worked! Ah well...you get what you pay for I guess. For $35, it's not worth me ripping out everything I just installed (including prying those tweeters out of that piece that I glued them to) and sending them back. Plus, even though they're 4 years old, these Polks are probably much better still. They're like mini-sub's!

Now I have to get used to the new sound, and maybe make some adjustments.

I also got the brake work done, but have yet to test it out. Heading over to PIE now, so we'll see if the rattle in the back went away, as well as the squeaking up front.

And best of all, I finally got my prosport gauges to work the way I want! White in day, amber at night. Spliced the white wire with the power wire, grounded it, and ran the orange wire off the orange wire on the back of the radio. BUT....I'm not happy with the water temp gauge. It beeps LOUD as hell during start up, and I know that's going to get annoying, so I'm going to get another gauge. Luckily, for whatever reason, there's a basic water temp gauge in the box he gave me, one without the peak warning/beeper, but there's no harness for it. So, I need to email prosport and see if I can buy just a harness.

Hey, don't mean to bother you but could you give me link where you got that sub woofer enclosure please. Thinking about this for a 10" CV VMAX. Thanks.

That sub enclose fits perfectly in the back. And the whole system sounds really good. Still the cleanest P5 in Ohio. I'm jelly of your quarter panels...

Got my harness/plug in today, and after 4 months, the gauges are finally operational. LOL

Day...

You and your mood lighting. Freaking ricer. Why can't you be cool like me and have CF mirror covers? lulz

Looks good and I'm glad you finally got the gauges sorted out.

The gauge pod itself is the wrong color? Or the gauge color at night doesn't quite match the cluster lights?

good to see that you got your gauges to change colors when the lights are on!
