Exactly...if I wasn't 6+ I'd def. come out to not only hang out but learn a few things along the way.

If I wasn't working on my car and about 2+ hours away I'd be there. I wouldn't really be helping but I'd be there.

It'd be all good. Nothing wrong with hanging out with some fellow Mazda peeps all day! Regardless of who was wrenching.

The other issue is I work 3rd. shift, 10p.m. to 6a.m. That coupled with an hour plus drive= " Hi guys, hows it going, gotta go, see ya next time."

Eeeewwww....third shift blows. I used to work 11pm-7am but only two days a week. I worked two 7am-3pm two days, 11pm-7am two days and then 3pm-11pm two days. All of these shifts were in a 5 day period! 7pm-7am really sux....by 3am I'd hit a brick wall and had to fight the last four hours to keep my eyes open.

Luckily, I've been a 8-5 guy my whole career, but that will change once I get into ATC. Days off in the middle of the week, and crazy hours that fluctuate all over the place. lol

Welp, got my running around done after work, and planned to get a haircut, buy my barber wasn't there, so I went out and got the wiring cleaned up at the ECU. Couldn't put the plate/cover on though, because out of all the existing holes in the firewall to run the power wire through, or out of all that metal to drill a new hole for it, guy guyerson decides to drill a hole a half inch above the plate mount so it won't fit.

I'll fix it once we do my audio overhaul. Move it somewhere else, or maybe just cut a notch out so it will go on.

Wow...this is turning into quite the project. But as we all know, it's never as easy as we think it will be going in.

There also seems to be a bracket missing on that plate/cover? There's only one bolted to it that holds the ECU on, which BTW, seems like a TOTAL b**** to bolt that up to the backside of the plate?!

^^^ It's not bad, and you're right, there should be 2 brackets holding the ECU to the kick plate. But you'll be okay with one, it won't go anywhere. It's a little tricky getting your paws back there to hook up the ECU and tighten that bolt that holds the plug in, but you'll get it. Or "Lady hands" can get it tonight when I swing by.

It seemed a bit loose though, with just that bottom bracket? I tightened it up, and I could still slide the ECU out of the bracket. Or, it will be ok once the plate is actually in place? Might put something around the ECU to prevent a rattle, a rag or something. I dunno...lol

I've got some sticky backed foam tape here at work I can steal, I mean, borrow.

OH, went through with that radio swap last night too. Traded this Alpine to a guy for a Kenwood w/front USB and $50. I'm happy...

Also thinking about keeping this forcefed PC'ed valve cover too. It's nice...:)

YIKES!!!! I wasn't rushing before, but I may need to kick it up a notch now!

Called the title office, I was unaware that I had to get this TN title over to an OH title w/in 30 days of purchase. Leaves me w/a week left! I need to take it up there so they can give it an out of state inspection. It should be drivable this weekend though, just kind of caught me off guard with that one. lol

Do you have a cat in your midpipe? I don't remember when looking under there. I know you've got a MAM midpipe but not sure if it's catted or not. You have to get it E-checked, right?

Couple few updates, and random pics I haven't gotten a chance to post in the last few days.

Wed night, w/the timing belt crap.

Goodies!!! And, wouldn't you know that the key is the same on the locks on the car now! Could've just bought the new set and used the key to get these off. Ah well, it's only $20, and I'm sure I'll use the set of bolt outs again.

All the mounts just had inserts in them. I took them all out. Not sure on the front one though, it looks legit.

Evan brought me over his clutch tool, and it worked like a charm! Mounting the tranny up to the motor proved to be a 2 person job though, so I called Kevin over to help. lol After that, it was all downhill. Dropped the motor in, bolted it up, attatched the PS and AC and belt, tranny linkage and brake line, axles and LCA's, header to midpipe, ran the alternator and starter harness, installed the radiator and spliced in the fan plugs (guy cut mine off to wire in SPAL's) and tried to bolt the valve cover on, but realized in a previous parts store run, the dude forgot to ring me up for the gasket! He brought it out, and set it on the counter, but we must've left it sitting there when we picked everything up and moved to the register.

Tomorrow should be the day. Realistically, all that's left to do is bolt up the intake manifold and valve cover, hook up heater core hoses (need to replace one), run the OCTOPUS of wires and vacuum lines, intake and battery, fill up all fluids, bleed clutch, and see what happens! Stay tuned!
