JosueP5's '03 Protege5 Build Thread.

I might get them tinted, but I'm still on the fence about it. It always seems that cars with dark windows HAVE to migrate towards a (insert car color) and black theme. I've had a red/black theme on my vehicles for 10 years now, and I was looking for a change. I also don't want the dogs to mess up the tint while they're back there. lol I've seen a few tinted cars that don't follow this theme though, and they look good. DaveB's p5 has tinted windows, but still has OEM chrome housed headlights, silver rims, no tail light tint, etc.

And my car will be alright for a few years at least. I'm going to douche the s*** out of it with rustproofer and anything else I can get my hands on, so that should delay any rusting.

Put most of your attention on the hatch and rear quarters. Those are the most notorious places for rust on these cars. Make sure the drains inside the doors stay clear and clean too.

yea i have two spots near the sun roof, some in the trunk door jam and the rear driver door (the black piece near the window)

Aah yes. I have a couple spots on the black piece as well.

I don't know about you, guy. But I had a freaking blast today. Great job and thanks for the ride along!

That's actually Josh at the wheel, Cheese. But his hands are incredibly soft as well. Haha

Wes, yeah I was super nervous riding along with Josh in the wet because I have zero confidence in Yokahama Paradas in the rain but his tires did really well. And of course, the driver mod was really good too. He passed a couple Miatas, a Ferrari, a couple Preludes and I'm sure plenty more. (2thumbs)

Even though I work on cars for 40 hrs a week, I keeps 'em clean! It's getting to be the time when they get all dry and cracked though. During the cold months, my hands look like an elephants knee, and get so cracked, they bleed! FML

But yea, good times yesterday fo sho! Sucked it rained ALL DAY, but I don't regret spending the money. REALLY don't regret buying the HP+'s, WOW did they really help out! lol Even though it was my first time out and it was on a wet track, I felt pretty confident in what I was able to learn/apply on the track. Marc, Evan, and Marlon were all a big help, thanks guys!

Can't wait for next season, but I'm sure going out on a dry track is going to be like starting at square 1 again. The car/tires were a little squirely in the wet corners, but I always felt confident in my control of the car. Only a few cases where I went in too hot and the brakes locked up. lol Most, if not all of the RWD cars obviously had to slow down in the corners, so that's how I was able to get around so many. But hey...such is the case with the Protege's!!!

At least I didn't have to let anyone pass me. :)

Only downside about HP+ is the squealing on the street. As long as you can ignore that, you're golden.

At least I hope mine aren't the only ones that are loud as hell..

These are my track day pads only. Putting my stockers back on this week since they have plenty of life left on them.

But yea, they made some noise on the track. lol Wasn't non-stop, but I noticed it a few times.

Aaah. Gotcha. I'm using them as DD on the MSM since that car won't see a track event anytime soon.
