Jeopardy

I watch TLC and the Discovery channel all the time with my kids but I express to them that reading books every moment you can is a very important step in learning also... that is, just keeping your brain occupied. I saw Ken Jennings on a talk show where he professed he reads all the time and has incredible recall. He must be one of these guys with a natural gift that allows him to use more than the normal % of brain capacity. I believe it has been proven we only ~10% of the ability of our brains capacity. Could you imagine... I'd like to just have dinner with this guy just to see what kind of person he is socially, his disposition, his mannerism, he's got to be one heck of a conversationalist...

Jeez, thats a bit of a sad reflection on society. TLC and Discovery are not the primary means of education in this world, perhaps he reads/studies a lot. Not meaning to flame, it just struck me as an odd comment to state that someone who does well on a TV game show must have acquired his knowledge from "educational" TV channels.

whoa, simmer down there 1canuck2, i never said that as soon as he gets off work that he must go watch the discovery channel and thats how he gets so smart. i simply meant that i bet he probably watches those channels as opposed to the disney channel, wouldnt you say? so before you attack me, chill out and pull the stick out of your ass, and maybe youll learn to take a joke. and besides, whats wrong with learning things by watching TLC? i do all the time.<!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Just wondering if this guy is STILL on?....
yes, he is still on.. 37 days and counting.. and his $52k win yesterday put him well over the $1.2 million total so far..

I think it's staged... but w/e. Only part of me thinks that... if it's not, then he's one hell of a smart guy. What a life... stay in a nice hotel, go down to the lot to shoot the show, hour later you make 40k dollars, go mess around for the rest of the day, go back to hotel. Not bad for a days work.

sam1, I am not the one who needs to simmer down...
as is said "no flame intended" it was not an attack, just an observation/comment.
Sorry if you took it wrong

thats the answer to the question that he blew it on, it was something about the largest african country on the same longitude as greenwich

ya, that was the daily double he missed.. but he's answered well over 1000 clues correctly.. WOW!!

anyway, he won again last night.. this time he finally set a new record for the most won in a single game.. the previous record of $52k he had matched on more than one occasion, but intentionally did not wager enough to beat it.. last night he won $75K to bring his total to over $1.3million .. and his streak to 38 consecutive games..

and guess what? that's the end of the season.. jeopardy will show repeats for the rest of the summer.. Ken Jennings will be back on September 6, to pick up where he left off, with the start of a fresh season.. AMAZING!!

That guy lives within like 5 miles of my house... I should go over to his place and beat him in Clue or something...

(lol)

Damn I missed last night's show...How much money did he have going into Final Jeopardy??
Do you think there is any reasoning behind why he tries to keep his score at even numbers, like $25,000, $32,000...etc.?? When he does his daily doubles and Final Jeopardy, he always does this. Keep in mind he (purposely)tied the daily total of $52,000 3 times at least before breaking it. And for quite some time(all the way to 1 million) his running total ended with $460(ie:$1,115,460). He never tried to change it. Then one day he missed the final question and messed that up....Maybe I'm reading into it too much, but he seems to have some wierd habits...Ever notice that he writes his name different every day?
