If I were buying a kit RIGHT NOW, I would probably go with a SPOOL Stage 1 or 2 (no intercooler, runs 4.5 PSI and the ECU really doesn't seem to mind it much - 160WHP), second choice would be the Flyin Miata kit, and third choice might be the HiBoost kit that has just come around for $3995 that seems to have taken care of the fuel problems with our Proteges for running higher amounts of boost. When HiBoost gets more consumer experience, I'd probably move it to second choice, only because I won't be able to afford $4000 in one fell swoop.
The problem with the MP3 vs MSP and the higher boost levels it can run is that the MSP has an ECU that can dump in more fuel, while the MP3 has to be tricked into it, and it doesn't seem to work PERFECTLY in all cases.
To me, a SPOOL stage 1 or 2 kit (difference being the manifold and spoolup times) and 160WHP would make me VERY happy, and for only $2595-$2795 respectively!
