Most cops DO hate when you have a radar detector, but thats usually because it comes across to them that regardless of what the speed limit is, you're "saying" that you wont obey that. Not to say that you'll automatically speed just by having a radar detector, but why HAVE one unless you PLAN on breaking the law and speeding? Thats why people get those.
Anyhow, you should've gotten a warning to fix the two minor things. And this will probably boil your blood more.... but when we pull your registration from the DMV system, it automatically says if you have insurance or not and even gives your policy number and name of your insurance company. In other words, he shouldn't have had to see if you had it with you or not because he already knows if it shows that you're insured. lol
But it is a violation not to have either proof of insurance on your person or having your plate where it may be obstructed from view. I think they'd go for the plate being properly put on the front now rather than now having your card on you. Having your card on you NOW doesnt help you since it needed to be with you at the time. But both arent "moving" violations so points shouldn't be accessed. If each citation is $200+ each, then pay $150 for a lawyer to get it reduced for lesser charges. You still wont have to go to court.
