So I was at a Winnipeg posting board where one of the people is getting one of the new Minis....someone posts a imagestation scrapbook of a Mini at an autoX event(sweet!) and what do I see in there but a lovely MP3 with a bunch of pics of it in action. Here's one of the shots...is this anybody on the board...such a small world if it is! :)

thats one of my buddies from INTENSEperformance . That was from an autocross this past Sunday in Miami. The racing harts are autox wheels, while those protege5 wheels serve as daily drivers. Since he shredded the dunlops on the racing harts in the second run he used those for the rest of the day.
He sucks anyway.:D j/k

Ah that's very help redwagon...now make sure he comes and posts about his experiences in the Motorsports forum! :D

That's Me

Yeah thats me... unfortunately I shredded my Dunlops on the first two laps. Im currently looking into getting a set of Falken Azenis for the Racing Hart rims, which are my racing wheels. I drive on the p5 rims daily, until I can afford what I really want. Funny thing is that even though I was on the street tires, I managed to post my fastest time. And I missed out on third place by just a fraction of a second. Too bad this time, but once I get those Flkens, the sky will be the limit.

I'm not an expert or anything but i think I would use the P5 wheels for AutoX for two reasons...
(1)Lighter...I do believe.
(2)Smaller Diameter...Which allows for faster acceleration.

I would find some stickier rubber for the P5 rims and go for it.

Sell the Racing Harts and get what you really want or keep them for your street rims.

Coolhand, Falkens suck dude! Let me know what tires you want and I can get you a really good deal on a set.... I know people. :D

See you at Towers next Friday?

Chris

MP3-Owner is right.
But ditch the stock P5 wheels and just get a set of 16" or even 15" ROTA slipstreams or some other ultra lite wheel. the smaller diameter will help with acceleration. if possible, keep the width at least 6 or 7. then stick on some Toyo Proxes ..... you'll probably reduce your time by at least another 2-3 seconds.

but you also gotta think that the 17 inch rim covers more ground in a single rotation.

P.S. good luck on replacing the shredded dunlops, they are out of production.

If you want an autoX tire, you can't beat the Azenis, especially for the price. Not sure why you think they suck. Half the people out there run them for racing. They stick like mad.

Also, if he is running in a stock class, he has to use 17x7s, so the p5 rims are out.

As for getting new tires, go with the Bridgestone S03 Pole Positions in the 215/45/17s. That's where I'll probably be headed next. They are sweet!

Tires

Well, contrary to my first response, I have decided to race in the 16's. I run in STS class because of my mods, so I can change to a 16 size wheel. Im definitely going with the Falken Azenis for my race rubber.... they are quite popular in the circuit for a reason, that reason being unbelievable performance. Not so hot for a street tire though. I have decided to also get a set of Dayton Daytona ZR's 215/40-17. I got a good deal on them, and they are comparable to Bridgestone Potenzas.... actually they are made by Bridgestone and incorporate similar technologies.
