Yeah, this whole beheading thing sends a chill down my spine. Haven't seen, or want to see the video. Just reading about how they threw him down and he screamed for a second as they cut his head off is a horrible enough image for me.
I've always been against this war. Nothing will change that. Just like most people aren't going to be swayed for being FOR the war. So to the people who will say "**** you, you ******* tree hugger piece of s***, stupid liberal" I say "**** off, its my right to view it that way, and its yours to view it your way, even though YOU'RE WRONG!"

.
Now with that out of the way, what I would ask you to do, however, is read into things a little more. Its not as simple as "All we did was shove a broomstick up a few prisoners asses, and humiliate them". Yeah, great. But the U.S. is walking a very fine line over there. They are trying to look like the saviors, and not the conquerors like we usually do. We were trying to say "hey, we're friends of the Iraqi people, we're here to help". What those photos did, was ruin every ounce of credibility to our "mission" we had there. The game is up.
That part of the world is a very different place. They see things differently than you and I. A lot of them will not understand that it was an isolated incident, and there you have it again. More hatred towards the U.S. So yes, those photos ARE signifigant.
You know what? Maybe they aren't so different. They see an isolated incident of prisoner abuse, and begin to hate us. A lot of people here, and on this forum see a few terrorists slice off one American's head, and its instantly "Bomb them to holy hell. Spare no prisoners, kill those ******* towel heads". Interesting. I guess "it" goes both ways. And I say "it" is ignorance.
It is ignorant of anyone to group the actions of a few Arabs who committed this disgusting act to all people over there and say "Blow them up". Just as it would be ignorant for Iraqis to see the isolated prisoner abuse actions and think the entire U.S. is like that.
Blah, I'll quit rambling. Have a great day!
