iPod kits

New to this forum and just bought a 2008 Miata.

I had installed a iPod kit for my 3rd Gen Nano.
Unfortunately the stock buttons do not control FF or RR on the Nano.

So curious if
1. any Hack available;
2. Any other option ( but I have been told there is no aftermarket part per my local stereo guy;
3. I am using a cradle by Proclip to keep the iPod in place. What are others using?

Thx

Also new...

I'm also new to the forum.

I have a new 2007 with factory audio and am considering getting the iPod adapter kit. Did you install it yourself? Dealership want quite a chunk to hook it up. Wonder how hard to access that back of the receiver (its my wife's car and I'm not in it very often so don't have access to it at the moment!).

Besides what you listed with the limitations, are you satisfied otherwise with the adapter? Did you get the one from Mazda or somewhere else?

NON-BOSE:

Basic process steps, in order, then were:

1) remove the glove box
2) remove the passenger side console tower side panel
3) remove the driver side console tower side panel
4) remove the cover panel and kick panel (under the steering wheel)
5) remove the 10mm locking bolt from the back of the stereo (a real bugger!)
6) remove the two screws that pin the stereo to the console tower
7) pull the stereo as far forward (out) as possible
8) visually try to see/feel where the Ice-link cable will plug in (flashlight, head up into glove box opening)
9) reach in through the glove box opening and plug the cable in
10) verify the antenna cable is still firmly plugged in while you're back there
11) test that it works*
12) put all the pieces back together!

*When testing, change the mode of the stereo with the steering wheel controls, and be sure the iPod is on and playing. You should see the iPod charging and will see Dension menus and display screens on the iPod window.
