Hi, I am extremely new to everything right now. I have never had a car that had a turbo nor have i had this car long. But i have been doing a lot of looking and have decided i want to add a Corksport FMIC Kit Intercooler. I had many questions about If people recomond buying it, IS the intercooler big enough, do i need an auxiliary fan? I hope i dont sound like too big of a noob. Im only 17 so im trying to learn. Thanks

you will not need an auxiliary fan when upgrading to a front mount intercooler. Any size is fine, and any front mount is a great upgrade compared to the stock side mount on the msp. from what I hear the CS FMIC is a good purchase. Dont worry about asking questions, we all have to learn right?

welcome to the forums.

its a great intercooler. corksport is a great kit there are other kits available or you can piece one together your self from ebay fmic kits. there are posts covering how to's on both. just use the search bar. welcome to the forum!

i really appreciate it! do you think the injen cold air intake would fit with this kit? I know the Street Units kit works with other intakes. Also you do think ill be fine with the stock fan? it says the piping will be in the way.. i dont want to not get it if i should have.. you know? =)

It just removes the ac fan...you're in ohio and I am not sure what summer is like there. If it gets really hot and the ac fan is necessary then CS has a fan you can add to their kit for like 100 bucks. As for intakes, you can get an intake other than the CS one. You just have to make sure any intake you get clears the piping from the FMIC running through the engine bay. And I am not sure if the injen does.

I would recommend getting an EBAY front mount intercooler kit and piecing it together if you are looking to save money at all. I know building cars at 17 is not the easiest on the wallet, hell its not easy on the wallet at any age. But I bought a kit that came with the inter cooler itself, hard piping, couplers, and clamps. I had to buy a few extra couplers and clamps and I was able to make my set up, along with making an intake for the turbo (2 birds one stone) I had to buy a filter to stick on the end of the piping obviously, but that was only another $25. I am also running an HKS SSQV blow off valve with a relocated MAF sensor.

When I did this set up I removed my side mount intercooler, but am still running both stock fans. I live in Ohio on the border of Michigan and have no problems.

If this is a route you would consider going, PM me with an questions and I'll do the best I can to answer and help you out.

Im running the Corksport FMIC and have been for a few years now. You will need a slim fan in order for the hot pipe to clear the fan shroud, otherwise the hot pipe will hit the fan. Like someone stated already, you can order the optional fan on the Corksport website when ordering the kit. The core is not too big at all. It is actually perfect for our cars. I love it, it definitely helps out, especially when you start adding more mods. But yeah, as said earlier, anything is better than the stock SMIC which heatsoaks in like 15 minutes

First off i would like to state, Spiced MSP, you have the car that i want my car to look like someday.. it is so nice looking and i really want it orange. I had a blazing copper Mazda 6 before this car.. and orange is still what i like. lol and i, by coincidence, think ill do what you have set up.. Also mxjosh82 like you said It is hard to come up with money.. but sense im still young and i have nothing better to spend money on besides my car.. i am more than happy to spend all i have! Ha but your set up sounds good but even with all the help you could give, i still would probably have troubles. I dont live too far out from Michigan.. i live in Dayton so its like 2 hours away.. idk if we do meets on this forum but id really like to meet up with some people and get more ideas for my car!
