intake manifold

I raced my friend's 93' Integra that had a B18A. His mods were AEM intake with a bigger throttle body. All I had was and Injen intake. We raced from a dead stop. I got him out of the hole from the TQ and pulled I believe 1 to 1 1/2 cars on him. I had my window rolled down and I started to hear him pull up beside me. Sure nough he reeled me in by the end of the 1320 and I beat him just barely. ANd that was me speed shifting.

Why did he pull on me?? Because his car breaths better up top where as ours hits a wall. I'm certain if had the 626 maanifold I would have kept that lead

would you think the car will pull more or less?

and is it a direct bolt on? like plug and play? it seems like it is a few vacuum line sources. maybe not?

just talk to ken, hes says its a good idea, especially with the mods i got. ill let you guys know when i put this puppy in!

wow lordworm, you must love the new civic si. lol

not at all - but as long as you have a usable chunk of power in the upper mid range, you'll always be better off in a 1/4 mile dash. Reason being is that you simply don't USE anything below 4k when you are flogging the car.

That being said, generally speaking you'll still make more power below 4k than stock.

Deff keep us up to date with lots of pics and how hard it might be for the rest of us.

Hell, You can be the 1st to make it a sticky if you want to help your fellow Protege guys out

yea with the mods i have and after i get this manifold, im expecting to be in the 14's. i will deff. get a video or something.

Just for the record. I currently have the protege garage manifold on my N/A car. I've talked to Ken also....he will not recommend these becuase results are scattered all over the place. You can make products for our cars and say, "2/5 people see results!" Noone will buy it then. it's only proven for turbos.

As for me...I have not dynoed my car with it on I can tell for a fact that my midrange and top end has gone significantly higher... My low end HAS gone down, but i really dont use low end..i mean why would I? Proteges CANNOT handle drag racing without substantial work to the transmission and rolling races are usually our weapon of choice. this manifold works perfectly for that depending on your mods for n/a cars.

You can pm me if you'd like to know my other mods as I am sure they are the reason why mine actually works...dont do this is you have not done the basic mods..then you really will be wasting money.

Oh, and I think I read someone saying the expected 14s with this mod....no way. turbo charge first and then dream of 14s....

im not expecting the 14's with just this mod. i have a whole list of mods. i have everything expect internals in the engine. its not a long shot at all. i got a 15.7 with a axleback, sri, mp3 ecu, motor mount side inserts and a udp, so getting in the 14's should not be a problem.

There is no way u'll go 14's without a power adder. Even Turbo Proteges have a little trouble getting into 14's, let alone NA ones.

That is a rather ill informed post...

There are a handful of NA proteges that have gone 14 already. Some have gone very DEEP into the 14s (Installshield was a bee's d!ck short of running into the 13s, all motor).

14s are actually relatively SIMPLE to get out of the car NA.

Intake, (decent) header, exhaust, engine management, and some drag radials and you would be aweful close.

Hell i run 15.20's with a stock exhaust system.

The protege is not as incapable as people like to think.

no worries mate...yeah they are slow..but not as slow as people think.

Get it on the drag strip and prove the fools wrong ;)
=)

Weight is one of the key factors, I think, for late-generation Protys.

I'm bench-racing a friend, locally, who has an SR20-equipped B14 Sentra... and despite having more power than him (on the dyno), he's got about 200 kilos (440 pounds!) less weight, so we're just about evenly matched against the 'Box... so far. Have yet to do a full 1/4th mile against him, though... but I think I could win it with a good launch, as I have more top-end power.
