dont forget another way to keep your intake manifold cooler is to remove the coolant piping going to and from the throttle body...if you're in nice warm australian temps that is....certainly not recommended for below freezing areas....

I would hesitate to use a spacer that is 1/4" thick due to moving the injectors. This varies from vehicle to vehicle but injector placement is KEY to proper fuel atomization. Outlaw just blows that off and says it's not an issue... but I highly doubt they have done anything more than a cursory analysis of the issue on each car they make them for.

The material that Hondata uses isolates well, check the above writeup for details. I saw a massive drop in intake air temps in the S2k and an improvement in driveability. I now have one on each car (except for the Protege). That will come as soon as I have another reason to take off the IM.

I've wondered about that. But I've heard from other sources that a 1/4" isn't going to make a huge difference and doesn't matter as well.


So, I wonder who is right??

I've done quite a bit of reading about this on the probe and MX-6 boards for years on this topic....the bottom line is they work...they have sold hundreds and hundreds of them... go to Probetalk.com and do a search...hard to find anything bad.

well, its a proven fact. Im not saying it is proven on our FSDEs because this is my first experience in this engine. But my friend has a Civic Si and his intake manifold keep temperatures low, i can keep my hand laying on it and not get burned.
Try our cars after a few minutes on the road, UNTOUCHABLE.

Whether it gives 1 or 100hp i dont care that much, im just concerned in temperatures and detonation.
